I watched the game knowing we won and not only did I think Lallana was decent but our midfield in general were good.

Had I watched the game live I reckon my opinion would have been different.

Or had you followed the game on here, where every game our midfield are slated. Somehow we keep winning despite them.

Crap midfield. Crap defence. Salah playing crap. Origi not good enough.

        Top of the league.
        Oh I don't know.

Which is exactly why Klopp picks players we sometimes disagree with. They train a certain way, offer a certain skillset but we just want peak Fabinho, Gerrard and Keita!
          Was muß, das muß.

Aye I was going to post yesterday that 75% possession away from home, 25 shots, 20 chances created does not suggest that our midfield was as **** as people would have you believe.

Even the expected goals had us winning comfortably and that didn't include the Firmino goal.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I was at a wedding and watched the game afterwards too knowing the result and had the same opinion as pretty much every review I have read, which was that the midfield lads were fairly poor. Didn't see the match thread on here but TIA always give a breakdown comparison of 7 reviews, the 3 midfield lads got ratings between 5.2 and 5.9, imo that is probably correct after watching the game back. That does seem like the general consensus amongst LFC fans.

IMO we are not at our best recently but grinding out the results & finding ways to win which is a great sign. To be fair having 75% possession against Aston Villa who were always going to drop deep especially after scoring.. is not really a surprise & I expected us to dominate the stats against a much inferior side but they made it awkward for us. They got the early goal and that was it for them.

To be fair to Lallana, he is not fully match fit and is being asked to play in a completely different role. Did miss an absolute sitter as well.

I watched it in a noisy pub where I was completely blind drunk, so my opinion on the performance was hazy. The VAR was the clear frustration which was highlighted in my head. The Bobby goal and the handball... Madness.

It doesn't matter who plays but all of our midfielders have been slated. Firmino was **** until a year ago and should have been sold to PSG at a loss and can't play in this league, Henderson is the worst player in the history of LFC, Wijnuldam does nothing, Milner is ordinary, Keita is slow, weak, can't speak and is a pussy etc.

The rest of the team must be doing well to keep things going when carrying uninspiring, below average midfielders.

Well, I think back to the summer of 2018, when we signed Fabinho, Keita had arrived, and we wanted Fekir as well. That would've been a total upgrade of our entire central midfield.

So for me, I think Klopp is aware of certain limitations that our central midfield provides, but he wasn't looking to sell them either, so he knows what strengths they also give us too.

I wonder does Klopp see the next step of the evolution of our team being a 4-2-3-1 formation. With potentially Firmino dropping into the #10 position - where he originally had Fekir pencilled in??

I think Keita has been a bit of a let-down. But I wonder did Klopp see Keita and Fabinho as a first choice partnership in that formation?

In reality, we have some many games so there will always be rotation. And also we will adjust our formation slightly depending on our opposition.

I also think it is interesting that Henderson played for 2 years or whatever as Klopps #6. We sign Fabinho and Henderson adjusts. That is fine. But now Lallana is the back-up #6?? WTF is that about?

Personally I thought Lallana had a decent game on Sat, recycled possesion well against a very energetic Villa who were pressing in numbers.

I was also impressed that, similarly to Fabinho, his passes were forward thinking and aggressive at times. Henderson and Wijnaldum can both be a little too safe when playing that position and we can become a little sterile.

                        Not included fabinho.
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

I thought he was terrible first half but not so bad in the second half.

The same could be said for all of the team

Sounds a bit unlikely, but it would be a nice retirement package if true.

And actually if he stayed fit, the French league would probably suit him.

I think he would be really good in France, Spain or Italy....

I think it will get to the stage next summer where he will have been a squad player for so long that it'll suit everyone involved that he moves. Personally I wouldn't mind seeing Grujic and perhaps Wilson back at a field next summer..... And that would push Lallana down even more.
