In Lallana's case it would probably have been a useful thing as it would have been game time for him to improve his sharpness, as he hasn't played much for usThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Probably some truth in this.Originally posted by Liverpool View Postwhen he played for Southampton their fans always mentioned his body was not up to top flight football, always thought it was odd as his injury record was fine, but he was routinely subbed on 60/65 mins for them.
Have we just ruined him with our intense game?

I think having players like Lallana on the bench (if fit) is the right way. If we were to sign two more world-class midfielders, we would be asking Wij, Hendo and Millie to spend a lot of time on the bench. The point is: they wouldn't. Hendo/Wij are regular internationals who start for their teams and they need to play to keep that status; Millie is old and needs to play. As a regular bench-warmer, Lallana (or something like him) is about as good as you can hope for: a fringe international.

lallana will be fit when sat on the bench, but when he does get a chance he then has to rush around to get up to pace in an already frantic game, he goes diving in like a headless chicken chucking away needless fouls, gets turned inside out by players who have a bit of pace and is left to grab onto a shirt like a frustrated demented 10 year old with a sad badger haircut.Originally posted by greenturnip View PostI think having players like Lallana on the bench (if fit) is the right way. he is never going to 'get fully fit' and nor will he ever 'get back his form' or 'play regularly'removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

& when that happens, he reverts to smashing up kids in an Under 23's match as soon as he gets the chance to take out his frustrations!Originally posted by baitman View Postlallana will be fit when sat on the bench, but when he does get a chance he then has to rush around to get up to pace in an already frantic game, he goes diving in like a headless chicken chucking away needless fouls, gets turned inside out by players who have a bit of pace and is left to grab onto a shirt like a frustrated demented 10 year old with a sad badger haircut.

But when he was fit, he was a regular international. He was even England’s player of the year in 2016. He’s barely played a dozen club games in 18 months and is still an automatic call up for England.Originally posted by greenturnip View PostI think having players like Lallana on the bench (if fit) is the right way. As far as the broader point goes, successful teams have shown that you can keep international players happy with rotational roles, at least for a couple of seasons..

Fair enough with your first point. As far as your second one goes, it might depend on the club. Perhaps Barca and Madrid can have heavyweights on the bench? I would need to do some research and comparisons - but I can't be arsedOriginally posted by Pepe79 View PostBut when he was fit, he was a regular international. Minor setback this week, which isn’t ideal as I’ve been in great shape until now, but it is positive news it’s only a brief layoff.
Pleased I’ll be back and available for Liverpool, both domestically and in the Champions League, during September and then England again for the next break.
I know I can make a significant contribution over the course of a long season and that’s where my focus will remain as there’s so much to play for. Doing my best and giving everything for my teammates, management and supporters of club and country is all that matters.
Back at Melwood now making sure the time off the pitch is as short as possible, so will be supporting Gareth and the boys from up here.
Good luck lads and keep making the country proud. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
