Markovic has regressed but perfectly linear improvement is rare in young players. Still think he'll become a top player. He's not a wing-back and never has been. It'll be good for him in the long-term.
He looks tentative and seems to play within himself, quite similarly to Hendo early on for us. I think he'll break through that.
Similar happened with Sterling. He started off like a rocket but regressed loads for a good 6-9 months.
Kids wont improve in a set way. But as others have said above Markovic will prove to be a good player long term.
I think the problem with Sterling was that he was overplayed and burned out. Before he got injured he was barely able to run and had completely lost his pace.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
..and no, I never said it because Juan Mata scored (I think Matic plays for Chelsea), but because he's the direct comparison between the two teams in similair positions. No need to be so smug.
