Good player alright but yeah probably could have spent the money elsewhere

it does he is a good player no doubts.

Not his fault he's been injured for most of the season I suppose, been vey stop start & be interesting to see what role Rodgers has in mind for him. But yeah he really wasn't a necessity.

For me it isn't just the injuries or his role in the team it's also the inflated fee and the fact that we had finally got back into the CL and should have made a statement of intent summer signing but instead spent 25 million on a 26 year old from Southampton that had been plying his trade in the Championship 2 years previously.

It certainly seems one that Brendan was let have free rein with, given the prolonged chase and focus early in the summer.

Make of that what you will.

He was pointless and the money should have been spent on a striker.

              £25m (Lallana) + £16m (Mario) + £4.5m (Lambert) = Someone better than Mario. Goals.

Great player in what way? He's been nothing but a disappointment since he joined, there are goal and assist stats above which are pretty poor in isolation, and the same can be said about his fitness record.

£25m for a player with little pace, little attacking intent and no real end product, taking the stats into consideration. He looks unsure when he attacks, rarely drives forward and wants to beat players twice, which slows attacking impetus down.

For me, its another transfer fail. I can't imagine that his Southampton replacement Tadic would have been a worse signing for Liverpool. Might as well have just gone straight for him.

Ok, so maybe injury comes into it, but he hasn't done anything to justify being called a great player
                Pick away ; ) I respectfully I disagree.
For me is is an amazing player, and one of he most intelligent footballers I have seen play for some time. He reads the game extremely well, his close ball skills are superb, he can easily beat a man and he knows were the back of the net is. Hes very hard to pick up defensively when he is used properly and I think this season we only seen flashes of the player Bdog signed. His performance for Southampton against us a couple of seasons ago sticks in my mind as one of the best I have seen for a long time. I don't think he was bought for his pace, just take a look at his stats for the 2013-14 season he was one of the best players in the Lg, he had a full campaign and he was the driving force behind an excellent Southamption team. I said Hendo would be proved to be a great player when he first signed and was laughed out of the forum, Lalana is a much easier footballer to get behind, he is obviously a very talented footballer ... if you cant see that then well we are looking at the game from totally different perspectives .... Obviously I am right though

Mario is on a good wage and Lallana probably on 50-60k a week so there is probably a combined 200k + a week there as well.
                    * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

For me, he just lacks that bit of extra pace to take him up a level. You don't have to have pace to be a great player of course, but the way we set up last season suggested it would be of huge benefit.

As with many other players in our team, I think they'd be more at home behind s striker or having the team play around them. With him being able to go off both feet you imagine he'd be a nightmare to stop centrally. I watch most footballers these days and they are seriously one footed. Arjen Robben always found a way despite being one footed, but most are easy to show onto their wrong foot and then they just turn away and pass the ball on, threat over.

Rodgers obviously had him in mind as someone in a wide area who could contribute goals to make up the Suarez shaped deficit. He would definitely have been interesting to see had he stayed fit. Instead I guess we will have to wait until next season, barring any sudden take off to Carry us over the line in a race for 4th. Now if he somehow pulled that one off.......

Instead, my overriding memory of him this season will be him missing a gilt edged chance when we were 1-0 at home to the Mancs.
                                Forwards.......
