LFC never comment on fees so in this instance it's basically whatever Soton say the fee is. If you're a S'oton fan do you want to hear that the club captain went for £25m or £16m?

£25m may come into the equation somewhere; maybe by factoring in agents commission, bonus payments due to S'oton if we win trophies etc etc. It doesn't necessarily mean that it's the figure we paid to get him.

There's an article from the Bournemouth paper (which I think I once posted in this thread) which suggested that the club (who were due 25%) got £4m. IIRC there's a quote from the Bournemouth Chairman which seems to suggest that they didn't even get that, which makes me wonder if we even paid as much as £16m.

However for the purposes of slagging him off his detractors will always insist he's a £25m flop

he hasnt proved good value for 16m either.......

FFS, some right ****ing whingers on here. Perhaps he should score 10 consecutive overhead kicked goals to be valuable?

We've seen he can be bloody good, he's just been injured this season.

He is a southampton player.... he came up through the leagues with them and even had a good 12 to 18 months with them in the prem.....but he aint no top class player.

Ever wonder why we had a free run at signing him?? No other top 4 team even had a look......they were too busy signing good players. Even his old manager didnt have a go at signing him for spurs.......

Epic **** up of a signing. We got back 18m on andy carroll and lost 17m on him.......it'll be a similar loss on lallana. people thought he'd be the new steve mcManaman.......turns out he was the new downing
        Spurs did want him mate.
        Forwards.......

It is like a polarising opinion , some see a good player trying to settle at a new club , others see a waste of money who should be tearing up the league as he cost 25 million,

I have seen Ozil come from Madrid another player who I thought was excellent and struggle to settle at Arsenal , when I assumed he would just smash the league , as going into a great footballing team ,

We paid a lot of money for Henderson at the time , and most of us would not have been bothered if he was shipped out like Carroll and Adam , but with having time to settle and learn at the club has turned into a major player for us ,

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

He's a beige signing, we needed something more. Simple as that really.

We didn't need him & we could have used the money elsewhere but I do like Lallana as a player.... if he can just stay ****ing fit that is!

Hopefully we'll see the best of him next season.

There's not that much to suggest that even a fit Lallana would have made a whole lot of difference to our attacking shortfall. We should be doing much better for a £25m attacker. Still, his little pirouettes are nice.

Just wondering with the Milner signing, where do people think this leaves Lallana?

Next season our bench might contain:

                    Lallana £25 million
                    Balo: £16 million
                    Lovren: £20 million
                    Markovic: £20 million
                    Joe Alen: £15 million

Considering we aren't minted, that's a damn expensive bench!!!! FFS

Consider that Sterling is likely to be gone.

True but we have Can & Milner to step into the midfield positions. Maybe Lucas is off too which IMO is a mistake. I suppose it's better to have this conversation after the window is done

Yeah true. I hope Lucas doesn't go. His character and attitude alone are worth paying for.

Having struggled with PL and CL last season, we're going to need this expensive bench even more with the huge number of Europa games.

I think bench is the right place for Lallana. Ibe and Milner should be ahead of him in the pecking order. And the likes of Ings or Origi, if either hits it off well, could keep him further languishing there.
                            One tit for another.

I think we'd have to know our preffered formation & style of play before selecting the ideal first XI.

Ibes had a couple of good games and a couple of poor ones, not sure what he's done to be classed over Lallana, because at this point in time Lallana is better.
