Represents BR's liverpool - nice flicks (of hair too) but too costly and simply not good enough. Too lightweight, slow and injury prone. Does he do anything else except the drag backs with the ankle? Not sure what it is about him, but I'll never warm to him.

So what if some people are? He was the one signing that was supposed to be a plug in and play - a 27 year old England international coming off the back of a successful season with Southampton and England. That he wasn't pacey and didn't have a great fitness record, I think its right to be dubious. Its a fair amount of time to reach some conclusions. It's not like it was a Kenneth and Markovic 20 minute job!Originally posted by Slinky Skills View PostSo we're all judging Lallana now based on one season?
Good one.

I think the point is he didn't have a proper season - he had no pre-season, was a couple of months behind, and every time he got a little run going he'd pick up another injury. So I don't think it's fair to judge him an a very much injury-blighted campaign. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I don't think he's ever going to get going. I can't see him being to be good enough to hold down a regular place to get a run of games - who gets dropped to get him his first team place? Also, the links with players like Kovacic and Firmino suggest that he might even be more limited game wise.
I'm not writing him off, I just don't see a week in, week out, top 4 standard player in him. Sure, he's a squad player, but we could have spent that money a lot more efficiently.

One year isn't a fair time to judge a player, one that certainly has an abundance of talent too.Originally posted by Daniel 7 View PostSo what if some people are? He was excellent the year before for Southampton, last year was a bad year for him mainly due to injuries but on his day he is a quality footballer. It's not like he's Lovren FFS who is complete dross so it's a tad premature to start binning Lallana off already.Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

I'm not writing him off after a season, I'm dubious and think he was massively overpriced. I wonder as well whether the injuries he's had have taken away a percentage of his already limited pace. He couldn't even complete 90 minutes regularly the season before last for Southampton either - when he was 18 months younger.
Don't you see the contradiction in what you're saying as well though? You've completely written off Lovren after a season, despite just saying that one season isn't enough time. Who's to say that the problem with Lovren was that he was struggling to fit into a new system which exposed every single one of his faults?
(Not me, he's ****ing **** - the point is maintained though)

Lallana is a very talented player who we over paid for.
Had he helped us reach our minimum targets he'd have been worth the fee, he didn't. He only had one decent spell where he looked like he was the real deal, but we needed those sort of displays most weeks to justify the outlay.
He has the talent to improve and show that he can become a very good player for the club, I'm not so sure most will ever say he was worth the fee.Forwards.......

We looked at our best when Lallana and Coutinho were playing off Sterling. Him and Phil had a good understanding.
It's also worth noting that despite all his injury problems, he scored as many league goals as Coutinho (who was considered to have had an outstanding season), despite playing 8 less games, plus had a better goal contribution (goal or assist) percentage than him.
£50m Sterling who played ten more games than him, a lot of them up front, only scored 2 more goals than him.
I think if he can stay fit, he'll be a star player for us next year. I was against us signing him in the first place, but I have a feeling he'll really kick on next year.If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
