An expensive option to come from the bench and hopefully when called upon he'll be used in the position in which he can make an impact.
He has alot to prove. That fee is hard to ignore.

He has a massive season ahead of him. IMO very talented guy, but if he doesn't step up this season or suffers alot of injuries... he'll be gone next season. As you said a very expensive squaddie.

Seeing a lot if talk on twitter saying he us out for 3-4 weeks with a thigh injury. He is turning into a right sicknote if true.

With both him and Henderson injured there us surely no way we can sell Lucas now?

We need Lucas in the squad, the season is just starting and already we are seeing injuries. But we do have cover in most positions except central midfield. We'll cope without Lallana for a while though, more time for Ibe, Ings and Origi.

Bottom line is, it won't harm us too much......which kind of says it all about Lallana's time with us up to now.

For a number of reasons, we're just not getting enough from the lad, certainly not enough to be a constant fixture in the first XI.

Southampton fans did warn us. He's as injury prone as Lucas, not sure he's ever going to be fit enough, long enough, to ever make it here.

With his lack of pace he needs to be a bit fresher/sharper than the other team to make an impact. We should try and use him like Benayoun in 08/09, rest him early in the season and let him work his way in as the season goes on. I'm sure he'd have more of an impact that way.

I would prefer for us to use markovic anyway to be honest..... see if the lad will ever have a chance of making it in lfc....

Benayoun's quite a good comparison actually, although Yossi scored more goals. Similar styles, similar level IMO.

We paid £5m for one, and £25m for the other.

Yossi was a really good signing.

I wonder what that £5m would be now accounting for football inflation. I'd guess, maybe around £20m.
                          Oh I don't know.

Signed him in 2007 I think, so obviously 8 years ago.

                                Surely not that much.
