Thing that gets me is that everybody was raving over him in Germany and saying how he was the profile of player we should be going for but never do.Originally posted by danperkins View PostHe's been a shocking buy so far. Worryingly hasn't shown any fight whatsoever.
As someone who'd hardly seen him play before we signed him, were those people exaggerating how good he was (though the stats looked to back them up) or has he just horribly underperformed so far in all but 2 games?
Who'd rather have Danny Ings available over Firminho right now?

Mine angry and defrauded young?

He was the main man at Hoffenheim, virtually all the attacking play came through him.Originally posted by MrMichael View PostThing that gets me is that everybody was raving over him in Germany and saying how he was the profile of player we should be going for but never do.

LFC over paid though and some expectations were definitely too high. He doesn't look anything like the player he was there.
I can't explain it. He was never really pacey in Germany but he looks very slow in the premier league, both in terms of pace and decision making. When he's not playing well, he's going missing.Y.N.W.A!!!!!!

I just think we are trying to shoehorn loads of players into our team..... coutinho firmino and lallana shouldnt all be in the same team. It worked brilliany at man city but that was man city being ****e as much as anything...
Iver the last 5 years we have been at our best playing 442 diamond. I think if rodgers stuck with it and never tweaked it then he would still be our manager. Klopp played it and we scored 6 at southampton. I cant for the ****in life of me figure out why we dont play that way every ****in week.....

Playing him with Origi would be the only option for that at the moment.Originally posted by ~LFCHistory~ View PostHe looked absolute quality against City and a few other times but yeah he's mostly been anonymous. I'd be interested to see how he'd do with a pacey, mobile striker in front of him. Don't think we'll see him shine though playing as a false 9 or behind rubbish like Benteke. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

100% correct - of course all the know-it-alls who claimed to watch Hoffenheim every week were shouting from the rooftops about this, but the reality is probably closer to lads who saw him on FIFA and Football Manager getting excited because his value goes through the roof after he joins Barcelona on those gamesOriginally posted by MrMichael View PostThing that gets me is that everybody was raving over him in Germany and saying how he was the profile of player we should be going for but never do.

I think we all needed something positive to get excited about over the summer, and who wouldn't when we are signing a £30m Brazilian international attacking player who had decent stats for his middling club in a decent league?
He looks like a risky signing that isn't paying off so far, but Liverpool have to take these gambles as Alexis Sanchez and his ilk, don't want to sign for us just now.
