Clyne and Milner both have amazing engines and get up into great positions but Clyne's crossing more than often really disappointing, 2 assists this season and only 2 last season.

I see why you'd think that but I read somewhere that Clyne had created the most chances for a full back in the league? If true it's not his fault the players he is setting up can't put the away is it?!

Strange how we played the top six with these losers and did not lose once.

Think what has been shown is we need a player that makes the difference in tight games who finishes his one chance instead of missing sitters which has been a consistent theme with Firmino , Sturridge , Cout and Gio in the last few weeks.

I believe Karius had something like four dodgy games and was then hooked?

He's great at getting up top and getting balls in but IMO from looking at our games, I think his delivery is very poor for the % of times he gets into great positions. He may be getting crosses in but what about the quality of those crosses?

Been having a chat about this today with mate who is an Everton supporter. We were comparing Clyne vs Coleman. Whereas I think Clyne is a better defender, but as far as attacking full backs .. I do think Coleman is a hell of alot better.

I don't think it's Clyne's fault either, I doubt very much he has ever had to get up the pitch as much in his whole career as he has under Klopp as all our width comes from the fullbacks, it's a tough, tough job. I like Clyne as a "defender" but he can surely improve as an attacking fullback.

Clyne is great, I think you're wrong.

If we replace him and get someone not as good an all rounder as him you'll be the first to complain. Clyne is not part of the issue we're having at the moment.

As for Coleman being 'a hell of a lot better'. What do you base this on? His irishness?

I'm not winding you up. I genuinely want to know how you come to the conclusion that Coleman is 'a hell of a lot better' than Clyne.

I wouldn't want anyone with the mentality of Barton associated with any institution that wants to be taken seriously - what did he ever win anyway?

I know what you're getting at though. I wish I had of been around to see Souness play in his prime, I saw lots of clips of him the other day and he looked like an immense player, the complete midfielder. Can't say for sure as he was before my time but he seemed like a player with skill, vision & aggression as opposed to just a clumsy aggressive prick like Lee Cattermole.

To be honest though, aggression as an attribute is overrated, sure it's great to have but without the skill & intelligence of a top player it's useless. I bet there's loads of agressive technically limited midfieders in league 1, where they belong.

I suspect the league winners this season would always have been whichever of the Big Six that Kante chose to join. Nothing about aggression.

Clyne used to bomb on down the wing for both Southampton and Crystal Palace. His style of play and work rate have been very consistent club to club.

Would not take Coleman over Clyne though. Coleman is a good full back no doubt, but for me he has only one thing in his locker that Clyne does not, and that is being a goal threat.

Coleman will usually chip in with a few goals each season, whereas with Clyne the act of scoring a goal is a rare thing, but outside of that I would not see Coleman as an upgrade on Clyne in any other department.

In terms of being a defender Clyne is the more solid and dependable imho (something you have said tbf), and in terms of corssing stats, key pass stats etc., Clyne matches if not betters Coleman on a regular basis.

If we did not have Clyne then I would be happy to see Coleman play for us, but not a chance I would have him over Clyne. Clyne is a machine of a player and is just so damn reliable in his role.

If anything I think Clyne would be a far more effective player if we had a midfield that could get the ball to him quicker once Clyne has made a run (could say the same for Milner actually). That way Clyne could hit early crosses from the byline (something he does very well) rather than having to wait an extra pass or two for the ball to reach him on the right flank and then having to put in a cross from the edge of the box into a stack of bodies.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

We could get a better full back than Clyne for the right hand side......

But there are about 6 or 7 positions in the team that need to be upgraded first.

Goalkeeper, one center back, a left back, a holding midfielder, a left winger and a striker........Sort out all those positions and it will make more of a difference to the team.
