I think it's really tough getting on Flanno's back. The lad has had so many injury problems that he's missed serious amounts of development. Before that we all thought he would be a great player but who knows whether he'll be able to pick up where he left off. Perhaps not, but at least let's give him the benefit of the doubt until he's had a period of competition when he's fit. If he can't get fit enough then so be it, and tough/good luck.

Yeah, the central defence are limited and have been operating at capacity for a while - they're not good enough to challenge for league wins and be regular trophy winners. They just don't have that level. Who is to blame for that then? That is something we're never likely to know, because you can make a case against both the owners and Jurgen Klopp. FSG for showing a lack of ambition, or Klopp for overestimating his ability to coach ****ness out.
Someone somewhere isn't being honest with themselves

Judging by this forum, there are people who can't handle the truth. Everyone sees it now, but they can't handle it. Probably the same is happening within the club. Ultimately, only Klopp can fix this mess. If he is obstructed (FSG) then we have a bigger problem but nothing is pointing to that at the moment. One tit for another.

It is a good read and I agree with a lot of the points, no-one applauds the tackles and saves you don't have to make and people are more obsessed with making decisions based on the result than the performance.Originally posted by Shaggy View Post
I don't think the problem is that Klopp can't organise the defence, the problem for me is the players in the system making mistakes or not being good enough. We had the opportunity to improve the defence over the summer but didn't (Robertson aside) and Klopp has to take his share of the blame for that. And as long as our defence looks like conceding from every attack or are making mistakes that criticism will follow. Thankfully we aren't conceding a lot of chances because of the system but in conceding the goals without those last ditch tackles or great saves only highlights the poor defending even more.
I think the system that we play can work with the right defenders but for me we don't have them. The logical solutions to this are:
1 Stick with the system and players and either accept the flaws or hope the players improve
2 Stick with the system and get defenders who suit it
3 Stick with the players and change the system.
Point 2 was the ideal one but requires bringing in players so needed to be done in the window. Point 1 is what we are currently doing and if it doesn't work the only solution in the short term (until we can bring in new CBs) is to change the system.Last edited by Exiled_red; 25-09-17, 06:24 PM.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Nothing wrong with that Twitter. It's bang on the money correct. The only problem is it's discussing something we all knew twelve months ago and have since moved on, apart from a few clueless dicks mostly on TV.Originally posted by Shaggy View Post
The thing the reporter touched on but must have got distracted, the annoying truth if you like, is that the chances we give away are almost 100% punished. As he mentions. But why? Unsurprisingly, he doesn't mention. Because no organisation in the world, barring going full Houllier, can stop brain farts. When players are diagnosed with stage 4 of this condition you swiftly replace. Teams don't even bother attacking us anymore. Sevilla only attacked three times with full confidence they would score twice. Our defensive stats looked great, only restricted to them to three chances, etc. Was that our wonderful organisation or Sevilla taking the piss? One tit for another.
