If we want to beat this City team to the title our job is very clear, win every game, its that simple, can we beat every team in the Lg ? yes, can we do it over the course of the season, let's see, there is nothing other than a bit of form missing in this team, even playing within ourselves we are only 2 points off the best team in the Entire Multiverse, and they have to play Chelsea who we dropped points to, so as long as we keep matching them its very much all to play for. Football can change in 2 weeks from all-conquering to gobsites questioning if Pep can do it in the Lg or yeah but he has not won a Champions Lg he needs to go. As it stands we are their main rivals on merit, to beat the Champions you have to beat the Champions, we are in the fight and tooled up

The one problem in all this is City have looked miles ahead of Spurs and United when they played them,

We look like the only team they are scared of which Pep has admitted.

We must beat them next time and hope we are on the same points .

Xmas could be the decider believe it or not , all the games and how both teams manage

All we can really do now is stay right behind them and hopefully the pressure will tell and they'll start to drop points. We've done an incredible job of that so far, we just need to keep it up.

The Xmas period is when things can quickly change around. I believe we're playing within ourselves deliberately, hopefully that extra freshness will pay off over the crazy Christmas period.

We're talking small margins here between success and failure so luck and/or injuries could also play a part.

To be fair we tore Spurs apart too and the 2-1 flattered them, and we've yet to play United.

They do look too good though, but we're still in it.

It does seem that when City play the smaller sides, they are already beaten before they walk on the pitch. That mindset like teams vs the old fergie sides, ah sure **** it we're going to lose anyways kind of thing.

Wolves caught them cold at the start of the season but they have pretty much steam rolled everyone else apart from us. Spurs were blessed it wasn't 4 or 5. They have arguably been better without KDB, more fluid. Players like Sterling, Bernardo Silva & Laporte have looked top class this season, Mahrez been very good too.

Sterling was excellent last season & really does look like a quality player under Pep, numbers he's putting up are ridiculous & seems a bargain now at the price they got him. Their most important player and for me one of the best players in the world for the last 4 or 5 years, David Silva. Everything goes through him, world class. MO if he gets injured, that will impact them much more so than KDB or Aguero getting injured.

I think they are very beatable though, the thing is though that most teams retreat and won't have a go at them. Drop back, concede position and let City come at you. That won't end well for most teams unless they are solid at back and amazing on the counter.... which we are one fo the best in the world at. We are still in touch even if we haven't played as well as we can. I would be very interested to see ground covered/miles ran by our team at this point vs last season. I'm hoping it is a change of tact and conservation of energy for the 2nd half of the season rather than just a general drop off.

They are a top side but so are we, the big difference for me is that they are seasoned winners. That experience is huge when it comes to business end of the season.

Yep despite them playing fantastic football & we haven't really clicked yet - let's hope we do soon

Even though it's difficult to see now, I predict that we will both drop plenty of points before the season progresses. Don't think it'll be the head to heads which necessarily make the difference. I maintain if we don't lose those and win the majority of the rest we'll be very close.

Buzzo is also right in saying I dont see anyone else doing better in the current situation. But, I dont think its bad to expect the title.

We need to shake the attitude of being 2nd,3rd,4th being a good thing. Anything less than 1st should be considered bad. Its a mentality thing more than anything. But why do we have to be measured this season as fans?
Well, honestly the attitude of people doesn't really mater - it's the mentality of the group. How realistic it is or not is something for us to discuss - players should be concentrating on implementing tactics and winning the next match.

**** off you schmuck. What an absurd notion that is.
Never understood this argument. My one Chelsea supporting friend is always telling me that the only reason that Klopp doesn't get sacked is because he gives out hugs. Apparently our final appearances, progression and good league form count for nothing and the League Cup is more important.

Makes **** all sense. I reminded my mate that Sarri (who I think is a very good manager) hasn't won a single trophy in his 30 year managerial career. So using that logic, says even more about their ambition.

The theories football fans concoct to try support their points are nothing short of preposterous. 'Salah is having a **** season because he's scoring tap ins when last year they were stunners'... who the **** cares what the goals look like? Any game that any Messi or Ronaldo play in and lose is their fault and they are chokers. Whereas Ronaldo doesn't even contribute and hardly plays in that final of the Euros but that somehow cements him as the greatest of all time.

To be fair, you have to give Pep credit for not parking eleven £50m+ players behind the ball, and not encouraging his players to go down like they have been shot everytime they feel the breathe of an opposition player.

If anything, Pep is the anti-Mourinho. Shows that moaning **** up for who he really is, and how the game can, and should be played. Mourinho is the Portugese Graham Taylor.

We could lose the league to City, and I'd feel far less bitter about it, knowing that we lost out to superior football... even if they did buy the ****ing thing and broke FFP.

Pep has done really well... but he would have to take a smaller club to championships, a club that do not have the likes of Messi in the middle of the park, before Id call him a genius.

The best team usually wins, and if you are managing the best team then you are virtually there already.

I can give him credit for the style. i would not swap him for Klopp though. Klopp has shown he can build things. Pep has shown he can maintain and improve things...

                            Perhaps when Klopp retires...

It was his time at Empoli (obviously ) that made clubs sit up and take notice of him. The year after he left they continued his style and had Leandro Paredes (on loan from Roma) in the Jorginho role and he absolutely bossed it for them. It was also where Zeilinski went on loan from Udinese and did well to get his move to Napoli.
