Love the big man running through the opposition midfield, he seems to just glide past players with ease. One of these days he will end it with a piledriver in the top corner. Or row Z, but either way I would love to see him have a pop.

I was thinking that too! Against City would be nice.

Good to see him get some recognition. What a season he's had.

Hard pressed at times to pick which of Matip and VVD has been our best CB this season.

Matip witb the early lead, VVD closing the gap in recent weeks.

Which is odd considering Matip has just picked up the award.

Does speak volumes about how good Matip has been if a conversation can be had over which of them has been the better CB this season.

These awards tend to be skewed towards what makes match of the day, goal and assist for Joel and 74 crazy runs

The upturn in VVD in recent weeks has been huge, weird how he wasn't a threat on corners when his defending was a bit sketchy earlier in the season and now his form is back to his best both ends of the pitch.

Aye, said the same thing on WhatsApp, what a difference a goal makes.

Now that he's got his fitness back, Virg just knows he's peerless and can't be beaten at anything. The penalty just summed it up for me.

Probably one of our best ever free transfers, but blighted by injuries.

No mention of his role in the 2nd goal?

He carried the ball forward, bypassed United's midfield with a lovely pass to Diaz, received it right back and fizzed a majestic first time pass to Mane, that Thiago would have been proud of.

His charges forward have been devestating for us 2nd half of season and there are few greater sights in football today.
