Did we though.
Whilst we cannot know for sure what he earns unless he decides to show a payslip, most reports have him earning a basic of about 100k to 150k a week and then a range of incentives and image rights payments on top of that.
It is not as high as our top earners, but had he ecided to sit down and discuss an extension at some point he probably would have been bumped up to a figure closer the higher earners.
Plus it is not as though a basic wage of between 100k and 150k a week is peanuts.
If anything I think the club deserve credit for being able to keep so many world class players on our books for lower basic wages they may get elsewhere. It may of course also be a sign of how high the incentives we pay may be if players are happy to accept lower basics than elsewhere.
Either way I do not see the player wanting more or the club paying less than some other clubs as a reason to criticise either side tbh.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

I agree with what you are saying Jaco but the guy has probably seen the likes of Virgil, Thiago, Mo etc all come in and get more than him. Last summer the club gave new big money deals to Virgil, Trent and Henderson (and Alisson??) He probably thinks then "hang on a minute, I am contributing as much if not more to the team here". Then we have a 12 month media circus about Mo Salahs contract but not much about Manes. They both go to the afcon, Mane rips it up and has been the in form player since. Salah has a good game v United and the focus is all on him again whereas Mane has been brilliant since feb.
If bayern are offering more cash, the chance to be the main man and also a new adventure for the guy, then fair play and good luck Sadio.
The only regret i have is that his last game didn't give him a CL winners medal to **** off with

I did wonder if that was ever a factor. He must have been aware of it, and he wouldn't be human if it didn't bother him on some level.Originally posted by SB View PostWe’ve paid him peanuts compared to our other big names & he doesn’t get his name sung by the fans like Mo & Bobby does maybe.

Lot of talk at the moment that Mane and his agent made it clear they would not have any contract talks last season and that he had decided to leave last summer and made it formal behind the scenes at the club in December.
How true all that is is another thing, but it would tie in with a lot of things like his dip in form, the resurgence of his form etc. Of course it could also be a case of making the pieces fit with the advantage of hindsight.
Think the only way to view him leaving is to see him as someone that did really well for us, and who did well himself from being a Liverpool player. With best wishes being offered when he does go.
I just hope he does not do a Wijnaldum and have a series of moans for months after he leaves and then utterly flop in a new league. Much prefer he left on great terms and then tore it up in the Bundesliga for the rest of his career.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Lets all be honest, a year ago we were all saying how shockingly bad he was playing and where had the Sadio of old gone. Pace was off, touch off, it was a ****show from him.Originally posted by Jaco_Pastorious View PostLot of talk at the moment that Mane and his agent made it clear they would not have any contract talks last season and that he had decided to leave last summer and made it formal behind the scenes at the club in December.

Then there were always rumours (probably just that) of a rift with Sadio and Salah.
Then there was all the talk about how philanthropic Mane is, not motivated by money and gives it away etc. So if he does now want £350k per week it seems contra to all this.
Our backroom staff seem all over the stats so if he was off the numbers, they probably decided the time was right for him to move on. He has put in a shift towards the end at least.
Mane is one of my favourite players, but I remember mane of 2/3 years ago scoring great goals against Bayern. That was peak Mane. We havent seen that for a long time.

We still had his best years and if he leaves on good terms, then I have no issues with him getting a massive pay day somewhere else and seeing out his career there.
We had Mane, Fimino and Salah with a massive drop off to anyone who would stand in for them.
Now if Mane leaves we have three from Diaz, Jota, Nunez, and Salah with the left out one joining Firmino, Minamino and Carvalho (maybe?) as our cover.
He's not leaving us in the lurch and he is leaving just as he is declining but still getting a huge pay rise. All parties should be happy with how things are going imo.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

I don't think these two are mutually exclusive - if he earns more, others benefit more.Originally posted by npinn001 View PostThen there was all the talk about how philanthropic Mane is, not motivated by money and gives it away etc. So if he does now want £350k per week it seems contra to all this. Was muß, das muß.

Yep he gets more for his family and has more to invest in the projects he is involved with in his home country.
Let's be honest though, if any of us was suddenly offered way two or three times more money to do more or less the same things we do now, we would not be saying no either.
If the likes of that old streetwalker SB got told he could earn 30 AUD per client instead of his current rate, you cannot tell me that Man Ho would not take the money to feed his lens addiction.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

i think the capacity to give more money to communities is underestimated by fans who don't live in smaller economies. some kid walks out of a village with no running water and lands one of the best gigs in football. i think more than a few would be asking what more they could do for people like his friends and neighbors back home with a bigger bankroll.dave of mutilation

On Darwin Nunez:
"You are out all the time because it is hot so I met him just walking around in the city. He was not staying at home not talking to anyone. It is a city where you can walk in the street and people would not stop him every five minutes like he might get in Lisbon.
"He is an ordinary person."
One chance meeting with Nunez underlined that point when Badia ran into him buying a mobile phone. "I was with my wife buying a phone myself. It was amazing. You expect that he would buy the top model. He just wanted a normal phone so he could call his mother."
What does he walk into liverpool grasping. Clue, not a nokia.

I’ve only ever heard £100k pw reported. Ox gets around £120k & never plays. It’s a slap in the face imo. & we should have upped his contract 12 months ago to show him the love.Originally posted by Jaco_Pastorious View PostDid we though.

Your right it’d have some effect on him imo.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

At Christmas I normally put €2 in the collection at mass, as my way of giving back to the community- it doesn’t mean I wouldn’t take a raise, if it was going, at work…Originally posted by npinn001 View PostThen there was all the talk about how philanthropic Mane is, not motivated by money and gives it away etc. So if he does now want £350k per week it seems contra to all this.I don't tip

. I don't begrudge him a big money move and at least it is to another proper football team.
