    Pretty much.

Massive wages, generally better weather, better chance of a league or CL winners medal.

Just did a quick count of their league and CL tallies since 2000.

Nine league titles (and in with a chance of another this season)

Eight CL titles (in with a chance of one again this season)

There might be other big clubs that rack up better domestic league title numbers in the same time period, Barca (11) and Bayern (18), but nobody comes close for the CL.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

You go there to win things and you will. Horrible club and fans but they know how to win. Also, huge wages & a better lifestyle is always nice. I honestly don't care with Trent going, bit pissed we aren't getting money for him but he doesn't have what we need anymore in that position & other players have been compensating for his defensive frailties for years now. We've been making excuses because his production was so good but when that dropped off it's hard to excuse how much he exposes us. If we can get pace and power down both of those fullback positions and bring in some real quality, we'll be right in the mix over the next few years. Next year might be a transition year though, that's ok imo.

After half a dozen quite sensible and moderate posts, I knew it wouldn't last...

For the record, during my career I left my employer for better money or in some cases a different challenge and in one case to experience a different country, so I am in a glass house and know not to throw stones.

Yeah but did you tell everyone associated with your previous companies that you were a kid who dream came through, told them how much you loved working there and kissed the company logo every chance you got???

If the answer is "yes" to these, then you are a Trent

Well, yes. My point was i don't know why free trades aren't more common place. We could/should be looking for one a year i reckon. Give a player a £10m signing on fee rather than paying £30m, etc.

Madrid are immune to being charged for tapping up players though. Only an idiot would believe they only do it during windows. They've been in his ear, Bellingham has been in his ear for them etc.

Did you gradually use up every last day of sick leave despite not being sick and then suddenly leave, all the while making out you were going nowhere? if you did then youre an inconsiderate arsehole

I don't begrudge him wanting a new challenge or experience. But running your contract down and leaving on a free when youre easily worth 80m+, absolutely shafting your "boyhood" club in the process is an absolute dick move and he fully deserves the animosity towards him.

He can go prance around Plaza Mayor with his gucci man-bag the prick.

Its always on the go. No one gets charged for it. Gerrard was tapped up several times by many different parties.

I think Bellingham's been in more than his ear...

There was one job that, yes, felt like my dream had come true when I got it and, apart from the occasional quibble, was a complete joy but I still left it after 7 years to try something different. Like Trent, I gave my all every day for my employer but then, once every few years, took a career de isio that was e clyzively anx wholly about me and my family. That did not make me a person to be slaughtered on the 'net and I see no difference in Trent's case.

****. This is where I’ve been going wrong. I do none of that.

Might start kissing the company sign on way in each morning and build up from there!

This is broadly speaking where I’m at with it and I think if he’d left for big cash he’d possibly have avoided the majority of the vitriol likely to head his way. However we got £140m for Phil and he has basically zero legacy with us now..

I can understand that this is an environment, the only environment he has know since he was 14 or whatever and that he has a desire to see what life could be like elsewhere.

That said he should be and has said he is living the dream. I think his perspective changed when Klopp left.

The grass isn’t always greener, and he may well find that out soon.

Equally when push comes to shove and we get to theb nd of the season he may change his mind and stay?

He won nothing with us so there is nothing there to offset the "bad back".

What is even madder is that he has been with five clubs since leaving us, has gotten three league winner's medals, one CL winner's medal and a few for various cups and you cannot say that he has a legacy at any of those clubs either as he never became anything more than either a bit part player or an on loan player.

TAA might be a bit different once time works on the sting of departure, as he was part of teams that won every big trophy for us, and very much a big part of the Klopp era.

Whether TAA is a success on the pitch or not at Real (assuming he goes), think he will get medals there along with the massive pay day, and I have a gut feeling that is all that matters to him.

Do think Real will be tough for him though as he will not be the local hero there, and he, imo, is neither of the two things that you seem to need be one of to win over their support, a Galactico or a hard working skill machine that facilitates the galacticos.
