Thats absolutely mental. Southgate has not got a clue, with the 26 man squad he should easily be in it.

Probably good for us though. However, that period where the Euros is on will be a tough one for Trent.

It would be a shame for him, because I am sure that he wants to go, from a club point of view him getting a rest over the summer and having a point to prove next season is probably great for us.

From an England point of view I think it's madness, obviously I am somewhat biased but he's the rest RB in the country IMO and if Southgate wants to play wing backs then that arguably plays to his strengths more than any of the other options there.

Feel sorry for Trent, but Southgate is a liar. He claimed it was because he was out of form, but Trent has been brilliant in 2021.

He started off the season poorly (long covid?), but he's a uniquely gifted talent in his position and it's absolutely wild he can't make an extended 26 man squad.

i'd have him started......as someone else mentioned here a few weeks back, he would be a brilliant supply line for Kane.

Hopefully this is good news for LFC though.

Good for us he doesn’t go. I feel for him a bit but he’s got the World Cup to look forward to in 2 years and I’m sure the fact he’s gonna have a fresh break will give him the impetus to show how good he is next season. It’s a frightening prospect really for our opponents next season as he’s arguably been our best player over the past 4 months.
                Are we winning?

Yeah England’s loss is our gain.

The Atlantic have a **** show of an article about it:

Getting our CL group opponents wrong, criticising his defending in games he didn’t play in or games that we didn’t concede in. Being suitably ripped apart in the responses.

He’s absolutely bottled the decision. What’s the point of the 33 man squad? Other than 1 or 2 surely he knows exactly who the 26 are already?

I think it's because there will be a number of players involved in CL and Europa League finals this week and he's worried about injuries. That and he's bottled it

I actually think making players turn up for a week to 'audition' and then telling them to **** off is fairly ****ty - I know that it's fairly common and England have done in a number of times in the past (Gazza in 98? comes to mind), but I don't like it, particularly when he can pick a 26 man squad anyway.

Also it's a fairly inexperienced squad, in the 33 there are only 10 players with 20+ caps and a decent number of them you wonder how they have so many

I'm in missing something he's naming his final squad in 7 days time, no England friendlies in the meantime. He should have put the those additional lads on standby rather than drag them to a camp.
