What the hell does it matter whether a pass is forward and travels at least 25% of the distance between the passer and the goal if it is a cul de sac ball and results either in lost possession or in the next pass going backwards!

(I used to laugh at how much US sports journalists seem to obsess about stats when "it is live theatre, man". Now, with data analytics a big thing for clubs and outlets like The Athletic making almost an industry out of them, we are the same.)
