He is an excellent attacking right back, one who imo will get even better going forward and defensively with more experience.
Put him in a system that still allows him to get forward ( say with three CBs or with two DMs ahead of two CBs) and suddenly a lot of what is seen as his mistakes would dry up or be snuffed out by the defesive players.
Right now and for chunk of the tail end of last season, we are playing with a very high offensive minded high line, one that will expose any lack of mobility/ability to anticipate in our team, and we have that lack of mobility right now in the middle through injuries and aging players.
My gut feeling is that when we add to our midfield a lot of the runs getting through now will start getting blocked again.
For me TAA is a better RB, in defensive terms, than he is given credit for. He is just used in such an offensive manner and also used to playing so much in that manner that when the unit as a whole (and I include him in this) is in anyway below the stupidly high level that is our baseline, that runs/moves/errors etc that impact other "lesser" or simply good teams start to occur against us too.
Am convinced we are two CMs (be it two new guys or one new guy and an injury free run, yeah I know I know, from Thiago) away from the team gelling again into an absolute crushing machine that goes on a long winning streak.

I don’t mean to be a smart arse but we have an output merchant at RB who is redefining the role. How we play can expose him from time to time but he’s an all time 11 player at RB
