But Kyle Walker is extremely quick and better able to recover from dubious positions with pace. He’s also a better defender.

Fundamentally a full back has to be able to defend. Trent gets caught out absolutely loads, and not just because he is miles forward. It’s when he’s having to do the basics under pressure.

If you look at the guys ahead of him they’re both left footers. They can’t offer the width he does and put in decent balls. When Henderson played there it sort of worked but with Elliott he’s always going to want to come inside just like Mo and also Trent. If that happens there’s no natural width.

They’re trying to get Trent into that central position because we’re lacking creative ability there but it really unbalances the team.

Yeah can't argue with that, but City aren't losing the ball in the buildup and we shouldn't be either. To me it's more just a way of beating the first press and dragging the wide player infield - Walker often ends up popping up in a wide position later in the attack anyway

I agree with you but I just mean it as a way of beating the first line a bit easier - at the moment it seems as though Trent always receives the ball with a defender in his face. Are we too predictable? I don't know

We are a bit ****ed as we dont have a valid replacement. I think it was a mistake to let Neco Williams go. All very well buying a teenager from the scottish league (who promtly got injured), but is that really Premier League ready?

I thought Neco was poor when he first came into the team, but he has improved massively. He has been man of the match for Forrest in all three of their games. I thought he would have been perfect to give TRent some competition. HE has been really poor for months.

Walker doesn’t play as high though. Nowhere near as high and as influential as Trent is on the ball. He’s far from his best right now but then a few others as well. We’ll be having a different conversation later on in the season.
                Are we winning?

I agree that when he steps inside he looks a better player to me and we look more dangerous. That’s why I think he should be a midfield player. An 8 who can score and create. He’s also got a brilliant shot and he can’t be left outside the box.

At the moment we just don’t have anyone who can score or threaten from outside the box. We are predictable but it takes an elite team to stop us playing. Real Madrid did in the final, we didn’t beat city, Chelsea or spurs last year. Good teams are figuring us out.

he just needs to the basics right when he's not on it, when he's **** he completely goes off on one everytime.

For a scouser he didnt seem up for the fight today either.

That's what bothered me too. For me only Diaz and Elliott showed the necessary fight. Everyone else was a ****ing disgrace, and it's hard to take from Trent.

Football-wise Milner was awful but he wasn't afraid to put a challenge in and get hurt.

Yeah true - I've probably overlooked his effort because he was such an atrocity on the ball.

Carvalho showed some spirit too - can we just play him please?

Something is way off with this team isn't it. The lack of fight in them is scary at the moment.
