He has put in some absolute shockers the past month. Really PFK levels in the Southampton game. I think it has shown how important he is to the way we play. Everyone has a dip, just a shame his came when the whole team was struggling.
Still only 22. A lot of responsibilty on those shoulders, but has the talent to become a legend (if he has not already done so on the basis of a single corner... I wonder if Aspas was watching).
I just wonder how his career will pan out positionally. Usually you would say he was too good for fullback, but Klopp has redefined the position. In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

Obviously that's alot but the question I would ask are what are the circumstances? My guess would be that alot of them are crosses into the box, headed away, claimed by the keeper etc. That is probably more a style of play issue with high crosses (which we have discussed many times).Originally posted by kingfunk View PostLost possession 45 times against Leicester...The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

The midfield isn't really helping him though is it?!
Last couple of years he's had an easy out ball - either down the touchline to a midfielder pulling out wide, often Hendo or Gini. Or back to the deepest midfielder, Fab or Hendo.
What's he got currently?! A static midfield or taking riskier longer balls down the line to Salah or trying to spray it across field.
While TAA certainly hasn't been at his best, his form is a bit of a bellwether to the problems with the team as a whole.James Philip Milner Fanclub #1

The top three worst performances in the PL this season for losing possession in a single game all belong to TAA now.
Vs Leicester 45 times lost poss.
Vs Burnley 39 time lost poss
Vs Southampton 38 time lost poss
Not sure how many crosses he attempted in each game as they would have to account for a number of those I would hope, but even if we say 10 crosses a game that still leaves a very high rate of losing possession.
He is also the player in the league that has lost possession the most so far this season. Robertson coming second and Fernandes coming third.
The easy defense to make is to say that he is trying to force attacking play and as with a lot of attacking passes they are higher risk plays and more likely to be intercepted than a low risk pass, but the eye test says he is losing possession with the supposedly easy passes too.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Don't think many , if any, are going overboard in trying to hammer the guy. He has been flitting between very average and poor in a lot of games this season, and if we judge him by the stupidly high standards he set himself in recent season, then he looks very poor.
I would not be calling for him to be dropped or be knee jerking and calling him ****. However he is very much off the pace and he is one of many senior players from last season who are all off the pace badly this season. And I cannot even off Jo and Virgil as a reason for Trent as his iffy form was there before either CB was injured.
I do wonder at times if he is suffering some after effects from his bout of covid. Just enough that has him that tiny bit less sharp and a tiny bit off would be enough for his play to go from inch perfect passing/crossing to just failing to connect more often.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

I think that TAA(and Robertson for that matter play alot of dangerous passes which have a high percentage chance of losing possession. Someone posted the stats for midfielders on twitter but I feel that our full backs have to take even bigger risks.
TAA plays alot of crosses, takes alot of corners and freekicks which we have little chance of winning, when he isn't taking corners he's often back defending and attempting to put long ball back forward onto the box again these are low percentage passes. Take those out and see where he is. His performance level has dropped this year but IMO people are going over the top with the criticism and not looking beyond the stats. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
