26 man squad rather than usual 23. Trent will be one of the additional 3, along with Maddison to make Southgates press conferences easier.

Obviously Trent is a little bit off his best atm but would widely get into a world 11 ordinarily. Yet that negative dick Southgate can't even get him into his squad of 23. Absolutely ridiculous. Reminds me of Alan Hansen not making a Scottish world cup squad back in the 80s.

As much as TAA would be gutted not to go, I quite like the idea of him having that time off to train and effectively have a bit of a second pre season.

i dunno, a rest and a change of scenery, and letting him stew in his own juices watching other players get picked ahead of him for once might be just what he needs.

If he does not travel, then he still gets to watch the other players that were picked ahead of him.

He goes over there, he gets six weeks of training, travel and what not before coming back to us and having to continue an extremely condensed schedule.

Much prefer the idea of him being looked after by our guys and training with his teammates that are not at the world cup than training with guys that he will not play or train with on a regular basis for the rest of the season.

What a ****ing shambles of a defender. Talk of tactics and lack of cover are really just weak excuses, he cannot defend runners with or without the ball. Eight games into the season and ‘target Trent’ is still the only tactic an opposition manager needs. An injury lay-off might be best for everyone, if he actually is injured and didn’t just raise the white flag knowing he was on for a hiding.

Personally speaking Trent is our most creative player and we have to find a spot for him. I think hes up there with the most creative players in the league but playing him at right back always felt like a compromise.

We got away with it because the lads in front of him and to the side of him were giving him a lot of protection and now that henderson's legs arent what they used to be and the defence is creaking trent has been badly exposed for what he is - a poor defensive player.

Either we move trent into another more forward position to suit his qualities or we bring in another top quality defensive midfielder to cover his spaces which would allow him to attack.

thats pretty damning on our squad that our RB that cannot defend and just plays crosses and long balls is our most creative player
