Also interesting is getting absolutely nothing for Ox, Keita, Mane and Bobby in transfer fees in the space of a year. Winning absolutely nothing this season, not getting champs league football and the tens of millions that goes with that. Holding on to dead wood like Ox and Keita and forking out their few hundred grand per week and getting nothing in return. I wonder how the board feels about that.
All completely irrelevant unless LFC have started making business decisions based on fan sentimentality.

Unless you think that's how the club operates?

come on now, you were the one who mentioned the board initially, I said one small line about some LFC fans who just can't let go. "Ah we should give him another season", "Ah he was good when he was fit" etc and then posted up some factoids which are very relevant because they are true.

I certainly think Jurgens loyalty with certain players has been to our detriment. Bad planning and too much sentiment.

Worth noting that Bobby, Milner and Naby would all be staying if it were up to Klopp.
Mane last season too. And Gini. And we know what happened with Henderson.

I think a big reason for Edwards leaving was him and Klopp didn’t agree on when to move players on and replace them.

          Nice fella though.
Not a disastrous signing at all, specifically based on his early career with us, and also his stats the year we won the League (P30 G4 A1). But it is undoubtedly time for him to move on.

My point was more about the need for people to **** on these guys as they walk out the door. Thats not being sentimental, but that is what we follow, the shirt and who wears it. Not everyone can be a hero, but it doesnt tie in that we have to be disrespectful to those who do not.

Is Klopp too sentimental? Hard to say, he is the second most successful manager in England over the last 5 years. We've had a poor season on recent performance, but last year we posted 93 points. He is clearly getting something right and building a squad requires consistency as well as knowing when to move players on - it's the fact that we have lost out to the Man City oil and money machine that makes us reflect poorly on some of these decisions.
          Modifying post.

Maybe Edwards had a move clinical approach whereas Klopp had been through the ringer personally with these guys and couldn't separate himself from the situation.

He averages out at 3 goals & 3 assists or so per season for a 35m player on 125k pw. Over 6 million quid per season in wages. We do not have the luxury of wasting millions and millions on players that are not providing value for money.

It's not about ****ting on these guys, it's just the cold hard truth, just as the cold hard truth is that in another 5 years or so most of us will forget Ox ever played for LFC. I'm ****ing delighted to be shot of him, been saying it for years about him & Keita in particular, as it frees up funds so get in players who are actually available to play and contribute. We ****ed up keeping both for so long, that's is truth.

If you have to explain the joke then it stops being funny.

                    We sold Mane for €32m.

also assists and goals are not really what our midfield was geared toward. i'd like to see some of his wider stats as a contributor including turnovers, tackles, interceptions, etc. klopp's midfield has never been a high-scoring lot for us.

Edit: Yup fair enough but there should have been a 1 in front of that if we sold him at the right time. Just too much to let him go on the cheap and the other lads go for nothing.

I'm sorry Daniel but there is now a reasonable doubt with regards to everything you said.
