I still don't know the reasoning behind starting him at Palace. He opened the scoring and looked lively. Then we don't win for 5 games and he doesn't get a look in. Something has gone on there surely.

The loan move will get him games and experience in the league, the other question for me is still what position he plays, he has been played as on of the wide forwards, in Bobby's role and in centre mid, all that chopping and changing of positions hasn't helped. It will be interesting to see how Southampton use him but I'm not sure that will map back onto a position or role in our side.

I think Ralf will be able to get the best out of him, I’ve been impressed with Southampton this season when they’ve been in form, they’ve just not been able to maintain that.

Divock's performances on the pitch have not shot the lights out, but he is obviously showing enough in training; Taki c;learly hasn't, so not about Covid or different positions each time.

Even if he isn't in our long term future plans then his value is going to be more than we payed (£7m?) for him so will be good business in that sense.

He is undoubtedly a brilliant player, as anyone who saw him home and away vs us last year (year before) for Red Bull Salzburg will know. He signed at a really awkward time, and maybe looks a bit like he has struggled to settle no doubt exacerbated by being on the periphery of the squad.

I think this move is a really good one for him. He should get a lot of minutes.

Klopp said he's gone there to get game time, and continuous games in a row. Also said that we didn't give him enough time to play due to the tactical side of things (we needed height for some games so he couldn't play for example).

Still expect him to come back and he's a long term project.
