All they really lack is a top notch striker TBH. The rest of the side is class.
    Chiesa has been brilliant

Hard luck for Spain. I think they are a bit like LFC pre-Jurgen. Seemed to make hard work of games that they should win on paper but able to give any top team a game. At one stage I thought they were going to do it.

Do Spain have any decent young attacking players coming through?? Fati being the one that springs to mind but apart from him???

Well that front 3 from last night was pretty young. Ferran is 21, Olmo and Oyarzabel 23 i think.

Yeah Fati looks most promising. Hee's another winger type though. Cant say any strikers have really stood out, certainly no "next big thing" types coming through.

          Bums the lot of them.

Yep would be of the same thinking.

I think they do actually have a good finisher in Belotti as well, just that he seems to be a bench warmer more often than not.

It’s the best Italian team in my lifetime, not the best players and no superstars but they play together in a way I’ve not really seen. Usually it’s one or two world class players in a system designed to get the best out of them and defend the hell out of the game for the rest. This feels different, albeit less so last night generally speaking they’ve pressed and hunted as a machine for 2 years now.

Being a bit older, it's not the best in my lifetime... the likes of Paulo Rossi, Maldini, Schillaci, Baggio, Conte, Zola, Nesta, Del Piero, Cannavaro, Totti, Pirlo, Gattuso... there were some amazing Italian players in the late eighties/nineties...

That line up right there is frightening!

I thought Roberto Baggio was awesome in his prime. What a player. And then Juve sold him and replaced him with Del Piero. Wow!!!

Italy have had some brilliant teams and amazing players. The names you've mentioned are all brilliant. I'd also add the likes of Vialli, Baresi, Ravenelli, Signori, Caisiraghi, Pagliuca, Donadoni, Enrico Chiesa, Costacurta, Inzaghi, Luca Toni...

Some of them didn't play that much because of others in their way. But some were amazing players. Even Schillaci who you did mention - he kind of came from nowhere to make the Italia '90 squad. Ended up as top scorer. But only played 16 games for Italy in total. Crackers.

I was supporting them too but I think you misunderstand my point. It’s the best team, not the best side or the biggest stars. The team functions like none I can remember including both 82 and 06 World Cup winning teams
