This was a sixth goal in his last 11 games, to go with four assists. And it seems fair to say Núñez has carried Liverpool’s attack without a stumble or a stutter or a backward glance in the absence of Mohamed Salah.

It is a rare quality to improve like this, to settle and assert your will after such a difficult start; all those days Núñez seemed to spend rumbling about the pitch like an errant labrador, eager but always somehow in the wrong place, chewing your slippers, knocking over the tea tray, drinking out of the toilet.

It would have been easy to shrink, to stop putting yourself out there, to rein in that bullocking energy. But then Núñez’s super strength is that he never ever stops coming, won’t take no for an answer, will be there every night at 4am chewing your toes and suggesting a game of frisbee catch in the park.

The confidence the guy has no matter what happens is amazing. He’s got such a strong self belief. Fits right in with the mentality monster that Klopp has created here.

I’ll admit as much as I’m a massive fan and have not had the doubts others had so when he went through one on one part of me just wanted him to square it to Jota and then he goes and finishes like that. Ridiculous. Don’t see chips like that these days.

Defenders must absolutely hate seeing him out there. Start him they hate it. See off one of our other players then see Nunez come on, hate it.

I thought he was great today. That was a fantastic shot, I was really suprised he went for that but it was perfect! A fantastic performance.

Yeah that’s exactly the sort of goal I wanted to see him score as they are the ones that look the worst when you miss. Should help settle his nerves a bit.

His game intelligence seems to be improving as well, the reverse pass he played to Diaz early doors was ridiculous, just a shame Luiz didn’t anticipate it otherwise he’d have been clean through on goal.

Jota's header was perfect, but that finish was ridiculous. The coaching team must have sat him down Clockwork Orange style and drummed it into him about hitting the ball so hard.

                  2024 Nunez is some beast.

So much in that….. VVD winning the physical battle, what a header from Jota, Darwin running from the edge of the box, the ironic cheers from the Brentford fans when they think he’s missed, the real cheers from our fans

To get it up and down from there was Sevyesque

It sounds like someone says 'come on gorgeous' just before VVD clears it

Meh. Always has to have a few touches.
                        Really?

An outrageous finish, Owen did have a fair point though.

He seems to finish best instinctively and that may not change so I think even if he just got better at rounding the keeper in those positions, he’d score quite a few more.

That was something Torres was excellent at, sitting the keeper down and then rolling it into an empty net when 1 on 1

Jota would have been offside if Nunez had passed instead of shooting - he actually made the right decision!
