Murray for me. Wiggins was and is awesome, but he was towed around France by Chris Froome and even then he won just 1 measly Olympic medal. (surely that'll get a bite)

Murray - gold, silver, plus a solo Slam.

Wiggo v Muzza: Olympic medals in 2012 (1-2); amazing non-Olympic achievement (1-1); team sport (yes-no); reputation of sport (worst ever - best ever).

Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Ennis, just for a change as I think it's about time a woman wins it.
        Are we winning?

I don't know why a sport's reputation should come into it. If anything you can argue a clean athlete who beats people who cheat is even more worthy of praise. But that's not the main issue.

The thing is, if we've learned one thing from professional cycling's terrible problems it's that if you don't look for drug cheats, you won't find any. And maybe that explains why some other sports seem to be so clean.

Even Murray himself has called for more drug testing in tennis, and Federer has supported him.

That doesn't mean drug taking is rife in tennis but it does mean we shouldn't assume it's squeaky clean. And the same is true of football, as I've said before.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

And here's an even more recent article about the lack of blood tests in some sports.

I was only trolling. I *would* go for Murray but there's a fag paper between them and it's pretty much an impossible choice.

I checked for white text, and found it.

But you are also on record as saying that cycling is a "joke of a sport" because of its drug cheat history.

N.B. I say 'on record' but annoyingly I can't find the quote to back it up so I'll withdraw the allegation if you like. Not that I think you'll dispute it but still.

Anyway we both know that if the Tour had taken place after the US Open you'd choose Wiggins because you're fickle. And there's nothing wrong with a short attention spa... ooh look, a bird.

I can't remember saying that but I did take the piss out of it. That was when I didn't understand or like it. Now I kinda understand it and I kinda like it.

I'd still go for Murray though, not that it's important.

                      Personally I'm undecided. Yeah, right.

Incidentally I must say my opinion of Reina has nosedived since seeing your avatar.

Andy Murray for me. He did it amidst all the pressure and took his game to another level altogether for the most part of the season. Seems to be the forgotten man with all the Olympians taking centre stage, but I just admire what he's achieved this year.

I'm a Mo man - his double gold was my highlight of a tremendous summer of sport. Wiggy and Murra as runners-up.

I don't like him because of the grasshoppers that suddenly pop out during Wimbledon and then go into hibernation again. I think he's a humble bloke who has kept his focus and worked hard. So basically, I like him for his personality, but I don't like him because of the annual pricks who shout 'Come on Andy' as much as they can. Not his fault I know. His mum cheering like a she-male doesn't help my dislike around the annual Murray circus.

So many massive achievements this year.

Andrew Murray for me, just. Wiggins's achievement was amazing, as was Chris Hoy's for becoming Britain's most successful ever Olympian (which will be overlooked and outvoted by the less successful but not undeserving Mo Farah and Jessica Ennis)

To think Ryan ****ing Giggs won it a couple of years ago for basically being an old footballer... All of this year's nominees deserve it more than he did. Fair enough if he'd won it in the 90's when he was a proper force...
