I'm not sure how Lehman can confidently predict spin at Old Trafford - has there been a test match since they rotated the wicket?

He advocates real-time snicko be added to the system to improve it.

I'm sure you know better than him though.
How did you ever get by before Wikipedia was around?

90-95% accuracy is very high. It would have to be a feather grazing by to not get picked up then.

        I rest my case.

still think the indians have the right idea. **** it all off and make the umps do their jobs properly.

It's been turning around corners in domestic games, and Lancs' left arm spinner Simon Kerrigan has taken two 7fers and a 5fer in his last three innings there.

That's crazy mate. The Indians' stance on it is an absolute joke. It is there in black and white that since DRS came in the number of incorrect decisions has dropped. That's what it's all about - eliminate incorrect decisions and let the games have true outcomes rather than being decided by umpires essentially having to guess decisions because they haven't got a clue.

One in ten reads potentially being an error is very high? You're hilarious. And when it comes to faint edges it's more than one in ten as most of the errors will be in that region.

You rest your case? You say it doesn't lie, period. I explain the technology and that the inventor says it makes mistakes, and then you go from hotspot being infallible to we shouldn't use it at all? You been at the glue? You're making less sense than you usually do.

It has particularly helped in leg befores. Padding up, big foot forward against the spin, is not a safe tactic like it used to be. Which is good.

Wasnt it nigh on impossible to get leg befores round the wicket?

Umps never used to give them. It was an accepted tactic. Now you have to clearly be padding outside the wicket, and even then the culture has changed so it is seen as a bit of a cunt's move.

I don't understand the argument against DRS. It's statistically proven to have improved the accuracy of umpiring decisions. It doesn't matter that they get the odd one wrong if overall we are better off.

I've got a great idea! lets remove DRS and make the accuracy of umpiring decision 5% worse!!!

Once the last of the old guard in India have gone I wouldn't be surprised to see them come round to the idea of DRS. Pre DRS the big name players tended to get the benefit of the doubt more than relatively unknown players. Therefore the likes of Dravid and Tendulkar were much worse off with DRS because fielding sides called for a review and they were found to be out which in turn lead to umpires being more inclined to put the finger up. It's therefore unsurprising that they used their influence to hinder it's use in India.

The public tide is apparently turning against the BCCI. Don't think it'll be long before they use it. It would be nice to see constant improvement to the tech though. It's been the same process since it started hasn't it?

I will be pleasantly amazed if they embrace it any time soon. Indian cricket authorities, and I have to say its public too, can be pretty annoying. They didn't give a **** about T20 until they won the T20 World Cup in 2007 when they suddenly started prioritising it above everything else.

What's your ultimate commentary team of the current crop, so unfortunately no CMJ

What's your top 6? Mine would be

                              Athers
                              Nasser
                              Vaughan
                              Aggers
                              Vic Marks
                              Boycs

I wanted to include Blowers and Bumble, but apart from entertainment value they don't really offer a great insight into the game

I like listening to Boycott but mainly to laugh at him. You're right Blowers doesn't offer great insight but he's a lovely listen.
