Yep, was just thinking that. He has been the best of the Top 3. Still not great. But another 100+ innings when opening will only do him good going into the Ashes down under.
    *Except Michael, who died.

any idea what his scores have been for each innings (cook?)

He also needs to be shot. Thank f*ck he was over the other side of the ground. Two songs, ok, fair enough. Any more than that and he should be slung out. Self-appointed funmeisters can **** RIGHT OFF.

The bloke next to my mate droned along all day like the idling engine of a Vauxhall Agila 1.2 (automatic). He never stopped, except to inject himself with heroin or insulin, I don't know which.

Cricket has sold its soul. The Kia this, the sponsored that - logos festoon the ground, the tea break sponsored by Tetley, the drinks break sponsored by Buxton Water, the comfort break sponsored by Armitage Shanks, the Darren Lehman memorial ****fest. All a bit sad really.

            Drunk morons in the crowd.

            And the rain.

No clatter of wickets. A couple of poxy reviews. No pressure. No atmosphere.

            Utter ****e.

Good. You can ease your conscience by making a generous contribution to my expenses.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

mmm, no, ...no... I'm not going to do that... I'll just keep the slightly guilty conscience if thats ok.

Cricket is really expensive, I hardly ever go. £4 a pint and all that I enjoy it too, but the grounds are full of insufferable bores.

I'm still sore about my day at the Oval last year where I saw the SA's bat all day and only one wicket...

                Was rubbish

                  Barbd.

I really didn't mind the cricket itself. I'm sure the fact the series is already decided took the edge off things.

I didn't drink beer. I had two bottles of wine.

187ml in each one. I'm not Lee.

Bummer that, it's a bit **** attending a major sporting event and not enjoying it.

At least he wasn't playing a vuvuzela!

                      Nice touch. Cultured

I hate to think how much 2 x 187ml of Côtes du Rhône set you back.

I was hamming it up a bit.

But now you mention it, I was still fairly underwhelmed. Like I say, I think the fact it wasn't important took the drama out of it. That and the fact England aren't playing that well and Australia aren't that good.

I don't remember. A pint of lager and a bottle came to £9.20 if that helps. So not at all stratospheric by London standards.

                        I've had nicer wine mind.

I think lager is £4. So £5.20 is't bad at all.

I was there for that day last year as well

I'm back at the oval tomorrow, double rain forecast all day

To make matters worse I'm going with a Villa fan which gives the day potential to turn in to an absolute horror

disappointing that the 3 openers all got of the mark started to look like playing themselves in and not one of them gone on to score high

Why are England scoring so slowly?

This is going to be a draw for sure.
