9k yesterday, one of those horrible ones where you run at your normal pace but have no energy whatsoever and feel like you're going at snail pace.

Yeah I'm going to get on it.Originally posted by Carras_Shin_Pads View PostDefinitely get some better socks, i'm not sure on the tape - i'll check with him and let you know!
The problem I have is, as a kid I always wore two pairs of socks to play football to avoid blisters, so think it is a mental thing that I have to wear thicker socks to avoid injury.
Will have to invest in proper running socks to see if it improves.

Definitely get some better socks, i'm not sure on the tape - i'll check with him and let you know!Originally posted by Turkalicious View PostCurrently using a cheaper Adidas pair, climacool fresh I think they are called.
I tend to go with Adidas based on the fact that they have a wider toe area, but going to get a new pair for the marathon sometime this month.
Sock-wise I just use basic Nike cushioned ones that are cotton based. Think I might have to invest in some better socks then.
Curious as to what tape you would find comfortable around your toes though?
Thanks for the advice buddy

My toes always look like they just been smashed with a hammer - sometimes both the toe and nail are completely black! I think its a common issue with runners doing longer distances and never bothers me I never heard of glide lube - could be worth a crack just to ask for it in a shop

I think this is cheating slightly but i did 5k on a treadmill last night
. Was going to run outside but it was cold and all my long leggings were in the wash so went to the gym. **** me it's boring running on a treadmill. Couldn't wait for it to end.

The toe box varies from manufacturer to manufacturer so you might need a bigger one (area at the end of the shoe). Also what socks are you running in, if they're cotton based and the shoes are a bit tight they'll rub, same happens to my mate and he wears tape at the end of his toes for longer runs. You could try some glide lube - sounds and looks gross but it works!

Done 6km last night then what i hope to be my regular 10km morning run this morning.
I know I should have already looked into this given that this is the second marathon I've trained for but, does anyone know what causes the tips of your toes to get sore?
After a long run they are tender and i then get hard skin there, rather than blisters. Anyone else suffer with this?
