Just stumbled across this! Nice to see everyone out and about! Just started cycling to the station as well - only 2m away but all helps - cross training and all. Will get out for a run on Saturday if the weather holds, bloody hate running in this pissy mess!

Don't you do ultra marathons? If you go for one run in March you probably overtake us all

Yeah, no fair if he logs his distances here. 100miles in one run or something. Mad Man!

I'm going for a run at lunch, so I should rack up another 4.2 miles then

            You ****house.

Aiming to chalk up another 2.9m this evening. Then if I'm feeling brave (ie, not too hungover), then I want to get down 3.1m on Saturday morning to round us up to ten for the week.

Ha it's all in moderation - doing 10k is just as good if you've worked towards it, it's just going through the motions. I'm training for the South Downs 50 (miles) in April but there was an ultra that just finished in the Pennines called 'The Spine' - 260 odd miles, the cut off time is 7 days! think the winner did it in a lot less though. crazy numbers

What is there to enjoy about running 50 miles in one hit?

It must be a great sense of achievement. But it sounds like it puts massive stress on the body.

Hello braindead meatheads . Your poxy weightlifting thread has been well and truly overshadowed by our aerobic masterclass of a thread

It might only be 2 miles but add that up over the course of a week and it all makes a difference.

I cycle to work every day pretty much which is 2.8 miles there and back, only takes 10 minutes or so each way but makes a difference.

It's difficult to explain, you don't run the whole distance - general rule is if you can't see the top of the hill you walk it so you get a lot of time to chat to people which you don't get in shorter distances, so there's quite a good community feel. Plus the aid stations are awesome, free cake, jaffa cakes, sandwiches, gels, brownies - you name it, just a non stop buffet really!

That's very true - just changed from nike run to strava so i can record the bike rides as well. It's pretty cool as it compares others doing the same route - adds a bit of competition!

It helps that I've got a little running club in work. We run on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The pace isn't all that fast but it keeps me ticking over. Then I tend to squeeze in one more tougher run on my own during the week. On a normal week I'd say I run about 13 miles, which is not loads really but amongst this motley, motley crew seems to make me the winner

Ibuprofen seemed to help tbh, I might does up this evening and in the morning
