I'm loving strava too! The segment bits are great. Can't wait to get fully fit again so I can take down some of the mutha****ers who run my local routes (now that I know what their times are!!!)

Cheers Rowan, it's been a real tough patch but I think I can see the silver lining now. Running helps me. It's my therapy.Originally posted by Rowan View PostSorry to hear that, Pabs. Hope things are looking up a bit.
You've smashed half marathons before though, no? Just remember the rule. If you can run 9 you can run 13. You'll be fine!

Last run before collapse on Sunday. Anyone got any advice on things I could do in these next few days to prepare properly. I need all the help I can get!

Well back to work gym routines again now I'm home from honeymoon. Managed to fit in 5 gym visits on my honeymoon but I still put on 9lbs of weight
Going to blast it for the next month with weights and HIIT to shed a stone by August
Cheers

Definitely. Just get a regular foam one though. I've got a one with bobbles on it and it's like a medieval torture device!A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

Will do.
So from a quick research advice seems to be:
- Have some carbs this week particularly the day before.
- Rest up now, maybe do the odd little walk to stay loose.
- Stay hydrated and drink lots of water.
- Prepare everything you need the night before and get a good nights sleep.
Anything else?

Don't 'Hyperdrate' love that saying - means downing a **** load of water the night before. Your body doesn't have time to take it on board, just up your intake a few days before.
Also haven't read too much but if it's your first race you might want to stay off the caffeine the day before - each to their own but best to avoid until you get used to what your body likes.
Eat some carby protein the night before, something simple, chicken - tomatoes pasta that sort of thing - just something easy for your body to take on board.
Just enjoy it, i've got really nervous about races before - worrying about times, splits and PB's - the races i've enjoyed the most are the ones i've just gone with the flow!
let us know how you get on'The tide is very much in our court now.'

Can you ****ers stop running so far, you're not giving any of us bums a chance!
