My concern is that Reina moving to Napoli could help them finish above us in the league.

I really just don't understand this, it's the sort of deal that I could see happening to a player we want rid of but couldn't sell and it's getting close to the transfer deadline. Except that isn't the case.

The only thing I can think of is that a deal has been agreed with him and Barca (or someone) for next summer and we want to get the replacement before people try to screw us on the price. But if that were the case we should have played hardball with Barca/whoever and insisted they buy him now (so we have the money) and they loan him out for a year!

I personally don't believe a loan to Napoli was the *only* option. Reina's stock is still high. He will have an eye on making the world cup, hence he'll be desperate to play. We need the cash. And then there's the image it sends out that we continue to be a bit of a soft touch in the transfer market...

It's all well and good putting a positive spin on things, but with another 6 weeks left of the transfer market, I can't help but feel we would have been better off playing hardball.

I see mignolet as good as reina and the potential to get better. Reina really hasn't been very good bar a few months from Feb onwards, for a long time now. Mignolet is a better shot stopper which is a start. Lets see what we have on our hands before slitting our wrists. May just surprise a few.

How all of a sudden is Mignolet a better shot stopper? He is behind Pepe on every aspect right now and has it all to prove.

It's not just about goalkeeping ability, we have already lost one of the big characters and leaders in the dressing room (in Carragher) letting Reina go means we are losing another.
