TBF, he could easily just sit in the crowd for a year and collect a full pay packet and we'd be giving him grief then for showing no ambition.
He obviously wants to play though and possibly sees this as his best way out, so it's a compromise from both parties. Plus, you know, it's not immoral for him to want the same wages. You can argue he'd have the wrong priorities IF we knew that were the case, but it's his life. We signed to pay him that much, if he wants out and so do we then it's up to both parties to agree on a solution.
