      1) The board have been trying to sort themselves out for years.

      2) When Roy had money, Blackburn started their decline.

Just saying that there's no evidence yet that Hodgson's methods are the best in the current circumstances. The evidence though, does point towards a manager who looks a bit out of his depth. Yes, he's very honest and diplomatic with the media and doesn't attract negative headlines, but hey ho, that's exactly what the directors at the club wanted, so they could get about their excellent business in the meantime.

My only gripe this summer was the failure to sign a striker and Rafa did exactly the same. I'd also have liked Lucas shipped out but at least hodgson looked into that. I think Roy is getting rid of the right players, he just lacks the money to buy big improvements.
By all things being equal, I meant everything, including Benitez accepting the crippling financial situation as Hodgson has done.

I think Benitez is tactically superior and so could make up for the shortcomings of the players to a greater extent than Hodgson can.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I'm genuinely unhappy about this. Yes, people complain about Insua and will probably say they'll rather have Konchesky etc but the thing is we've switched a young player with potential who was struggling for an old player without potential who will also struggle. Perhaps to a lesser degree, but the thing is I can atleast see the logic of playing Insua where giving an old player who has been on the worse side of average for most of his career who isn't going to improve on a long term contract is madness. Clearly we're skint, aren't in the CL so on and so fourth but that's no excuse to get 4m roughly and 2 youth players and cast them away. There are teams a whole lot worse than us that have signed a whole lot better at a better price in recent years.

So yes, if being a tit is not wanting my team that I have very strong emotional attachment with to spend the pittance of money we have on ****e like Jones and Konchesky shoot me. If reports are to believed we could have spent roughly 6m on the pair of them which is just unbelievable considering we don't seem to really have money to strengthen the squad overall. Makes me unhappy.

Who honestly can say that they prefer Konchesky to Riise, the Doss or even a semi fit Aurelio?

All these people claiming to be delighted about the signing of Konchesky - where were the calls to 'SIGN KONCHESKY!' when Insua was struggling last year? Funny but I can't remember anyone putting him forward as a solution.

We could sign Christopher Biggins as Fernando's back-up, and there'd be some who'd try and justify it.

What have Riise and Dossena got to go with it? Although yes, I'd rather have Koncheskey to Dossena.

And we still have fabio, so whoever is playing better, or is fit, will play. IMO he's better than Insua by some margin and we haven't got the luxury of waiting for insua to blossom, if he ever does. There are many reasons to be pissed off about LFC at the moment, the lack of strikers for one, but replacing a LB with a better LB isn't one of them IMO.

Insua had only one full season here and he's had a decent season despite what people say. I think he's been treated very harshly. Saying that Konchesky is a better player when he's been mediocre at best all his playing career is absolutely ludicrous, no disrespect to you.

Former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp is confident that new signing Paul Konchesky will be a hit at Anfield.

The left-back inked a four-year deal for the Reds on deadline day after joining from Fulham in a deal reportedly worth £4 million. And Redknapp feels that Liverpool have snapped up a quality player who can make a big difference to Roy Hodgson's side.

"Liverpool fans, who may have been looking for big money signings, might not appreciate the quality of Paul Konchesky," the pundit told the Reds' official website.

"But he's a good signing for Roy Hodgson, who knows what he is getting after they worked together at Fulham last season.

"I played with Paul at Spurs and he's a superb one-on-one defender, with quick feet and who loves the showdown between full-back and winger. It's hard to find good left backs. He's one of them."

Nail in coffin for me. Redknapp rates him.

None taken. We obviously disagree about the merits of Koncheskey. While no world beater, he's a solid PL player IMO. Plenty of England u21 caps and 2 first team caps suggest about that.

I mentioned them because they were previous players we had in that position which many (me included) deemed to be substandard and we sold them for similar fees to which we have bought Konchesky for. I know it was different management etc but he just seems a cut even below them.

The thing is that there's no gurantee that Konchesky will be better than Insua. Paul has never played in Europe, doesn't know what it's like to be a big club player etc it's a different kettle of fish. Also, fit or unfit, the thing is Aurelio seemed a panic signing and Roy surely should have trusted him ahead of Agger at left fullback if he was central to his plans? I know it's only three games in but I'd be surprised if Aurelio gets a look in. I'm sure that we're going to see his boy Konchesky starting for an extended run of games whilst Fabio warms the bench regardless how he plays.

I'm not saying it'll happen but it wouldn't surprise me if in a few years we're stuck with a 32 year old Konchesky who is disasterous and we're all complaining about when Insua comes into his own and becomes a very good player elsewhere after we've sold him for next to nothing.
