I always try to be positive about any changes whether it's with the management or players but I am really confident about this lad.

I firmly believe he will be a cult hero for us. Let's face it he is ****ing nuts off the park but he does seem fairly disciplined on it. Kenny will sort his head out.

This is a massive challenge for Carroll and he will ****ing love playing for us, the fans will fall in love with him. Before anyone says it yes we fell in love with Torres and we all know what happened there but that's football, we have to move on and he could be a new idol for us all.

Feel sorry for the Geordies, we've all been concerned with how hard it's been to support Liverpool of late, how has it been for them, they've lost their Gerrard.

Have to say I'm happy to have a bit of muscle up front for a change - in the glory days we were always a physical team as well as bloody brilliant. We've lost some of that.

Unlikely anyone's going to boss Carroll about - but this is a dream chance for him. The only way is down (isn't it Nando) and I hope he can grow up fast.
