key point to remember here lads - we've actually gone out and done some decent business, Torres decided he was off and IMO did really well in this window.

"People are saying that Liverpool have sold Torres, but they have got two guys in for over £50million to replace him. I just hope Newcastle invest some of the £35million in new players at the end of the season.

What a mouthwatering top 2 on paper

It's been donkey's years since we had two top strikers at the club. Way too long for a club like ours.

Shame to see Torres leave, but no one can argue we've brought in top talent, and players hungrier than Torres was for the last 10 months or so.

We all knew Torres wasn't trying, we tried to come up with excuses for him, but now we know it was true. You can bet your life Suarez and Carroll with give it EVERYTHING they've got, they're both extremely hard working players, and they'll be keen as mustard to impress.

Plus they are both hard as nails and NO ONE will **** with us anymore.

            Exciting times ahead!

Don't think we need one. Let's concentrate on the match tomorrow.
              Are we winning?

Aye but when new players sign it's standard for a press conference to be held for them, ahwell. i'm sure there'll be an interview on LFC TV at some stage.

35million for someone who has had half a season in the premiership and is clearly mental?

this might turn out to be inspired .....I just hope we don't have another Gazza on our hands.
I'm still puzzled that we shelled out that kind of money.

He looks very promising but we could have had Llorrente instead.

I hope he turns out to be a huge hit.

Striker Andy Carroll says Newcastle asked him to hand in a transfer request before his £35m move to Liverpool.

The 22-year-old, who signed a new deal in October, claims he was in talks over an improved contract when it became clear that he was no longer wanted.

However, Magpies boss Alan Pardew insists he was not forced to leave.

He told the Shields Gazette: "We had a conversation about him wanting a new contract, and [Carroll said] if he did not get that contract he wanted to go."

Everything I have read so far indicates he might not be happy - though his photos with Kenny appear otherwise.

                          What is the story here..?

                              Yeah.

But he's a professional footballer. He just has to do his job. Very few of us work in our dream job and for our dream employer. At least he's got half of that.
                              .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

All the guff about the ins and outs of his departure from the barcodes will be forgotten about soon enough. When he scores a few for us, and Newcastle head back to the Championship it will be water under the bridge.
