BBB, you're every bit as rabidly pro Carroll as you make out some are negative.
His game yesterday wasn't spectacular, but he finished well and looked more threatening after he scored. I think it would benefit the whole team if he's allowed to start after 3 more promising displays, but to portray what he offered as amazing or man of the match worthy in any of the last 3 games is making them something they weren't.
He's starting to show confidence. I'm not a fan of how the team plays when he starts, we're less fluid and more rudimentary, but there are signs its getting better. I hope we don't Babel-ise him. ie, he scores or shows promise and is then dropped. We don't have as much need to rotate given we're not in Europe.

No, but I don't think he is a great player. I do think Bayern have a good enough team around him to be able to carry a player who is just a finisher, we don't.Originally posted by BringbackBiscan View PostSo in your opinion Mario Gomez has been **** in every game he's ever played? Your agenda is boring lad.

At this moment in time, i agree with what Matt says above and as such, there are certain games i'd start Carroll in and others i wouldnt. For Man Utd, i think their defensive strength is aerially and it's on the ground that they're vulnerable. Good/intelligent movement, good passing and quickness will bother them. As a consequence, i wouldnt start Big Andy against them.

irregardless of whether the opposition is good in the air or not, carroll should start because imo he actually looks more threatening the majority of the time when he receives the ball at his feet. he is much more than just " a striker who is good in the air"Originally posted by Craig_H View PostAt this moment in time, i agree with what Matt says above and as such, there are certain games i'd start Carroll in and others i wouldnt. suarez may not be fully fit for united and so i think it would be wise to give him a partner up front if he starts.
When stevie g gets back to starting week in week out, i'm confident we will get better use out of Carroll, anybody who watched the geordies last season will have noticed that Kevin Nolan was a big reason for andys performances. Hopefully Gerrard can click with him in a similar sort of way.Y.N.W.A!!!!!!

I agree with the above, I feel Gerrard could be key to helping Carroll, much like Nolan and Barton were for him last season. I think he has lacked confidence. A huge price tag, a lot of pressure and also fitness levels have played a part. I hope he kicks on from here. 10+ goals would be a good first season return and Stevie G could be key to that.

I think he will but I'm not sure how easy he will be to fit into a really good side (i.e. one challenging for the title). At the minute I think we aren't doing the simple things to get him confident - for example the number of corners that he heads out around the back post and we aim for him there - why not have him running in to meet the ball in the centre? I'm sure there is some logic to it but I don't see it at all.Originally posted by Kronenburg1892 View PostJust takes a bit of time and confidence. One of the things that I am puzzled with myself.Originally posted by dww View PostI think he will but I'm not sure how easy he will be to fit into a really good side (i.e. one challenging for the title). Our corner kicks are so deep that even if he is able to head the ball, he is so far out that there is no way that he could score from that distance.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

It's easy to defend against anyway but when it's as utterly predictable as we make it then it just takes routine defending to stop it.
