Yes he was, but again it is all down to the questions you ask. Most of the journos are just setting themselves up for a big fall. Hats off to Kenny for giving them exactly what they have asked for.

Liverpool attempt to buy Andy Carroll for the price of ten Andy Carrolls

Liverpool have a had a bid turned down by Newcastle for Andy Carroll, believed to be the equivalent of ten Andy Carrolls, with Newcastle reportedly holding out for a price more in the region of twelve Andy Carrolls.

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has insisted that Carroll is not for sale, but it is believed that owner Mike Ashley’s head may be turned if Liverpool up their offer by a further two Andy Carrolls.

A club source revealed, “Every player has their price, and in Andy Carroll’s case it would be about twelve times what he’s actually worth.”

The cost of English players in today’s market has caused concern to clubs looking to pay realistic prices for players, with one pundit insisting “We’ve already seen Darren Bent sold for the price of four Darren Bents, with the possibility of that rising to five Darren Bents depending on performance and appearances.”

“So I suppose you could say that in this climate one Andy Carroll probably is worth about ten Andy Carrolls.”

            Andy Carroll Liverpool bid

Liverpool fans have expressed concerns at the proposed transfer fee, but a club spokesperson revealed that they were confident that the Newcastle forward would start to repay the fee straight away.

A statement read, “We hope there isn’t too much early expectation from the fans, after all, despite us paying anywhere up to twelve Andy Carrolls, he’s still just one Andy Carroll.”

“On the bright side, any contract we sign will see us fine Andy a months wages every time he gets into any sort of trouble, so hopefully he should pay back most of his transfer fee over the first couple of seasons.”

Seriously, wtf were they thinking? How on earth did anyone think he would be good enough to wear the Liverpool shirt let alone be worth £35m? How does Comolli sleep at night?

Thirty five million ****ing pound? this has to be the worse transfer of all time.

LIVERPOOL boss Kenny Dalglish has quickly rejected an Aston Villa inquiry for £35million striker Andy Carroll – proving that he wants the striker to stay at the club.
Sunday Express Sport can reveal that Villa manager Alex McLeish has tried to tempt Liverpool into a swap deal involving Carroll and his £24million hitman Darren Bent.

With indications coming out of Merseyside that England striker Bent was on Liverpool’s wanted list, the Midlands club contacted Anfield proposing an exchange deal.

Dalglish was adamant he didn’t want Carroll to leave and so any transfer discussions were cut short.

With Luis Suarez in the midst of an eight-game ban, Dalglish remains confident the 23-year-old former Newcastle star will regain the form which gained him three England caps.

But Villa are likely to try again in the summer if Carroll continues to struggle in front of the Kop.

I honestly think it is. Why always us?

It hurts doesn't it. Someone drew parallels between last summer and the summer we signed Diouf, Cheyrou and Diao. 55 million on Downing and Carroll... wow, if we had invested that money well we would be competing now.

Carroll still has time on his side. But we should look to recoup as much of the 20 million we spent on Downing as soon as possible. We would probably get 10 back for him I reckon. QPR, Newcastle or someone like that.

We'd be lucky to get 15 for Carroll. Best case scenario, that's a £30 million loss there. Huge, huge figures. We bought Torres and Alonso for not far off 30 million

Andy Carroll didn't cost us £35m, he cost Chelsea £35m - Torres was leaving anyway. The money could have been spent more wisely, but it wasn't our money. Torres could have gone for £30m and then Carroll would have cost £15m and nobody would be bothered.

Carroll has to knuckle down and stop pissing about, he already had a reputation and it isn't enhanced by his behaviour. People are watching. It really shouldn't be too difficult for an athlete to take good care of themselves for the few years when they're at the height of their profession. I disagree with those who think footballers should be allowed to indulge in boozy nights out, they should be focussed on their fitness.

I still think he can come good for us, although if a decent offer came in I wouldn't be too upset if he left.

That's some very strange logic. Chelsea didn't put a clause in the contract that said they would only buy Torres for £50m if we spent £35m on Carroll.

Chelsea gave us 50 million pounds for Torres and we subsequently spent 35 million of that on Andy Carroll. It's enough to make you cry isn't it?
