He's just turned 22. He has longer than until the end of the season mate. High price tag is tough on the lad but it's not his doing. He still deserves the same amount of time to settle as anyone else.Originally posted by el matador View Postthree weeks is not great but thats life.
theres huge expectation on carroll. by the end of the season we'll know what sort of impact he's had.
I've seen enough of the lad to know he will be a big success at the club, just give him time to bed in.Forwards.......

Went on the official for the first time in ages to read a reserves report and noticed this. Why is Villa commenting on Liverpool, and what would he realistically know about Carroll?
David Villa is tipping Liverpool's new strike force to be a huge hit at Anfield.
The Barcelona forward is convinced the additions of Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez was money well spent by boss Kenny Dalglish and reckon the duo will strike up an instant rapport with supporters.
'Each year there are big transfers of this type. It's normal," said Villa.
"All teams need to strengthen when they want to win things."
The striker continued: 'Liverpool needed to reinforce after the sale of Fernando (Torres). They (Carroll and fellow new recruit Luis Suarez) are two great players who are worth every penny. I'm sure they'll be a hit with the fans."If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Yes, I can just see them all piling round to Pep's house to watch West Brom vs Newcastle.Originally posted by banditos View PostYou don't think Spanish players watch the PL?
I'm sure they do watch it, but realistically in half a season (not even if you considering Carroll has been injured for a month or so) how often do you honestly think he has watched Newcastle play?If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

The way Carroll plays, his potential would be pretty obvious after watching only a couple games. Wouldn't be surprised if a few of the Spanish lads watch Reds games to keep an eye on their national team mates. Carroll was pretty good against us.
Mind you, there may be an element of Villa just saying it to be polite too.

Suppose so. Hardly really newsworthy though* for the official, I'm sure plenty more players have voiced their opinions who maybe do know the players or the club better.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostHe was asked about Torres, said that he'd made the right move, and obviously added the bits about Carroll to balance it out and not piss off LFC or us fans.

Fabio Capello tells #BBC5Live Wilshere and Carroll are only 2 youngsters ready to play with #Eng. Others he says are not ready yet for snrs
We all know he's a talent, but if Capello is saying he's one of only 2 youngsters ready to be in the senior squad that must be good for us!

I really don't think he is mate. Kelly has some real issues with his game still that he needs to over come like giving the ball away, he had a pass completion of 55% v Chelsea, 67% v Stoke, 69% v Stoke, 56% v Wolves and 63% v Everton. Playing fullback he needs to learn to keep possession better than that at the top level. He also got successfully isolated very well by Everton and Wolves in particular and wasn't strong enough in the air and his positioning has been questionable too.Originally posted by Drago View PostKelly is a better right back then Johnson so that's bollocks.
He is a very good prospect, but he isn't ready for international football at all yet.Last edited by Mattshark; 08-02-11, 09:27 PM.

It's been done to death man, but I think it all depends what you want in your full back. Kelly is more defensively solid for me & better positionally (sp?).Originally posted by Mattshark View PostI really don't think he is mate. I have noticed the dodgy heading stuff with Kelly. He's put the ball back into pretty dangerous positions a few times but he's young and this can easily be coached out of him.
