No, he came on as sub a few times before we loaned him out. His last start was away at Swansea.

Actually, it was against Swansea in that awful 1-0 defeat.

Completely forgot he had a couple of sub appearances last season.

Yes, I didn't get it like that though. Maybe I was the only one being stupid.

Well, me and FSG. It was probably a mistake in how it affected perceptions both of the player and of the club's willingness to pay inflated fees. But FSG's mistake wasn't that big and the damage isn't lasting.

If we "really" paid £20m for Carroll and West Ham are paying £15m-17m then losing about £3m-£5m on him seems about right given bigger clubs pay a premium and he can be said to have failed with us.
          .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Bemuses me that too, what is he did that's so bad ?

So he doesn't live up to some peoples expectations, or isn't their type of football player, not his fault.

He had an absolute stormer for us against Chelsea at the back end of last season. Was chasing down everything and got a goal too I think. I thought at that point he had a chance to make it.

He scored a really nice goal, good footwork too.

I still don't think he'd make it in a Rodgers system.

He didn't score in that game.

Too often he didn't chase anything down. Just wandered aimlessly putting in minimal effort. That was his fault. Overall he was one of the laziest players I have seen for us.

He wasn't given a fair crack but am glad to see the back of him. In fairness, he has acted with dignity throughout this and a lot of players could learn from his behaviour. I hope he goes on to do well at West Ham.

In what way was he not given a fair crack?

What game am I remembering then? I remember distinctly him putting in a tackle in front of the Kop and them singing his name.

Practically told he wasn't wanted by BR from the outset.

If you are saying he didn't get a fair crack under Rodgers, then yes you are right. But if you are saying he didn't get a fair chance at the club as a whole then Id dispute that. His goals record was parp.

                                It's not BR's fault and it's not Carroll's fault.

This is all down to whoever thought it would be a good idea to outlay £35m on an unproven striker with alot of weaknesses in his game (as well as strengths). I'm still not sure who the main instigator was.

Anyway, both West Ham and Liverpool have a good deal now.
