Poulsen wants to play with Adam

Christian Poulsen hopes to form a partnership with Charlie Adam at the heart of Liverpool's midfield.

The pair will come face-to-face on Wednesday evening as Scotland host Denmark at Hampden Park in a friendly game.

Adam and Danny Wilson make up the Liverpool contingent in the Scotland squad, while Daniel Agger and Poulsen will line up for the Danes.

However, with the start of the Premier League season just days away, the former Sevilla midfielder has one eye on the new campaign.

An injury to Steven Gerrard has created a vacancy at the heart of the team, while Luis Suarez's exploits for Uruguay this summer means his start to the season may be delayed.

Rather than lamenting the loss of their two marquee players, the Dane is confident he and Adam can assuage their absence.

"Charlie was a key player for Blackpool and I think he will be a good player for Liverpool as well," Poulsen told the Daily Record.

"He's a good passer and can find the attacking players. We have a good dressing room at Anfield and he has fitted straight in as we have a lot of Scots at the club.

"Of course, the pressure is different at Liverpool compared to Blackpool but he has the qualities and we've seen in training that he's a good, strong player.

"Our captain is injured for the early part of the season so I'm not sure if Charlie or Luis Suarez will take our free-kicks but his left foot is a strong weapon for us.

"He's a really strong player and it's extra competition for myself but that's the same at every big club in the Premiership."

He added: "Of course, I hope I get a few opportunities myself. Charlie and I can play together. Why not? It doesn't have to be one or the other.

"Myself and Daniel Agger will drive up for the game but the journey back will be interesting because Charlie and Danny are coming with us!"

        Poulsen begins August mission

Christian Poulsen got only 45 minutes against Scotland, and it was a clear indication that Morten Olsen is looking for alternatives following his statement, which have [Poulsen] having no prospect of playing in Liverpool. Therefore, there is also a clear mission for the remaining 20 days of the month for Christian Poulsen.

"I need a clarification on my future here in August - and preferably as fast as possible. And I must get back to getting games regularly again," says Christian Poulsen to sporten.tv2.dk.

The captain indirectly states that it may be necessary to change clubs in order to fulfill the mission.

"Obviously, I'd love to play football, so I hope that I will," says Christian Poulsen, but the question of the future may lie elsewhere than at Anfield.

"Personally, I hope there soon will be a clarification and I will play some games on a club team. That I need."

We know he's not the quickest on the pitch, it would seem he's on that quick at all. It can't have taken him to this point to realise he wasn't getting games last season, and we've signed more midfielders in the summer meaning he'll get less games this season. Time to go...
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Both he and Degen are like brothers in arms, still floating and getting trapped in the pipe as the flush comes along.
                Are we winning?

****ing Degen must be in his last year now though.
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

Really don't understand what Rafa ever saw in him. Remember one reserve game he played they guy was like Bambi on ice (before getting injured and going off).

Its incredible he's going to have seen out a 4 year contract at the end of this season and he's barely played. Horrendous signing.

Dortmund fans were wetting themselves when they heard we were getting him.

I saw someone on Twitter the other day saying Rafa had nothing to do with the Degen signing, that it was in fact Tom Hicks who forced the signing through due to some shady business stuff

Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
