The amount of time Downing gets the ball in a promising position, looks up and see's a full back. Looks back and sees Enrique. Decides to pass back to Enrique and try to move into space. Enrique gets the ball with forwards closing in takes a heavy touch and ends up wresting with someone and the ball lamely trickles out for an opposition throw in is staggering.

Downing has no tricks at all. Not even one. He has a good cross on him, but can't ever get past his full back to deliver it. Totally pointless player.

It's been a frustrating time for him here. At the start of the season I was saying that we should judge him (and the others) when we have a settled system. I think when he has a settled role he will improve. At the moment we still don't have a settled system, no-one knows what they are supposed to be doing.

exactly how I feel I remember thinking once eveyone gets settled we'll get going and sort of feel the same now

I get furious at the sight of him. Brings down my well-being. It also pissed me off when he was applauding the supporters after the game. He didn't earn that privilege I was hoping he'd disappear down the tunnel never to be seen again.
