I think he can be effective against sides not in the top 6/7 but he just hasn't got enough in his locker against the better teams/fullbacks.
Need better quality. Oh well, he's still a good player who will have a sell on value in the Prem but we should seriously be looking at bringing in a replacement this January.Comment

I feel for Downing. He's a better player than he's showing for us. The pressure is getting to him and being a (good-ish) footballer myself I know exactly how it feels when you go through a crisis of confidence for weeks on end.One tit for another.

If experience is anything to go by, Gerrard will start knocking the goals in and Downing (along with others) will visibly gain in confidence. Maybe around February, hopefully it won't be too late by then.One tit for another.Comment

Sell him. We need better players than him on the left. Rafa was man enough to admit that he made expensive mistakes in the transfer market. I hope Kenny is man enough to do the same.
Every manager make mistakes in the transfer market.
We play a system that don't suit Downing and he is played out of position very often.
Wrong club at the wrong time. We may be able to get £10m+ for him and I think most of us would sell him if a club made a £10m+ for him.Stop the cyberhate
