Personally, I think scared is the biggest issue at the moment. The indecision when he was played clean through showed it clear as day. He would have burried that 9 times out of 10 for Villa.

Are you serious? Konchesky was and is utter championship level ****e. Downin has been rubbish for us but his career to date shows he's not in the Konch's category.

hes lacking confidence and its showing. there doesnt seem to be any conviction in his work, his crosses seem hopeful rather than targeted and his shots seem to lack real edge.

he needs to buck up his ideas quickly because a twenty million pound signing has nowhere to hide. hes been very lucky because andy carroll has made his fee look like value for money.

Can't say I was thrilled when we signed him, but there must be more to his game than run, pass sideways, pass backwards, run, pass sideways, pass backwards. I can't remember him whipping in one cross in the time that he's been here.

Move was too big for him I think. Riera, Yossi and even Babel all superior. Our left side in an attacking sense offers nothing with him and Enrique there as they both seem to get in eachothers way and go back on themselves once they reach a decent position to whip a ball in.

I think hes always lacked bottle

One thing that annoys me is he hardly ever tries to run a fullback

The other week he ran Ryan Taylor (almost by accident) then when he knew he'd kill him for pace he tried it a couple of times again

What he should be doing is trying that with EVERY fullback

Try then see if you can best them for pace, do it once and you have the confidence to do it again

Its just he seems scared of the fullbacks and he ALWAYS goes for the easy option (come inside pass it back)

he works very hard for the team and like henderson is always chasing back. he just needs one to trickle in or have a massive deflection and he will be away.

were sat here saying his goal and assist return have been abysmal so whats the player himself thinking. he must be really low on confidence and doubting everything he knows.

same goes for andy carrol too but one thing thats not in doubt with downing is his work rate which is phenomenal. he just needs to believe in himself a bit more. when he has his confidence back he'll be a hell of a player for us. I also think gerrard will help this to no end.

How he was given the full 90 today is just beyond me. Unbelievably poor from the start and in all honesty he should be a sub at best right now. If we get a decent offer for him we should take it and invest the money in a player who has the balls to play for a club like Liverpool. In my years following Liverpool I have never seen a player with such poor self belief yet who cost upward of £15m......buy British my arse.
