His saving grace may be that, while expectations of a more combustable workrate are required when with Brenny and the Reds, there is a clear allocation of role and responsibility in the structure. It's probably more likely that Rodgers will say 'I want you to do this and this is how you'll do it' where as Kenny expected a more fluid and unrestricted style of play.

Normally time heals these sort of wounds but if anything in these cases it seems to get worse. I'll never get my head around it.

Last two summers have definitely been the worst for a while, last two windows can be ranked up there with the worst ever.

I think he's a decent player actually and can see how in some setups he could be very useful. The problem is that we haven't got (or had recently) and established shape that he could slot into and he's clearly not good enough to modify your game plan to accommodate him.

I think he would have been as good if not better that Riera in the system that Rafa had established but the key to that was the strength at CM. One wide players job was essentially to increase the space in the middle and take advantage if the opposition put number into that area.

He's perhaps the least suitable member of the squad for the move to Rodgers methods where each player has to take a lot more responsibility.
