    I haven't seen the report, but I'm assuming you mean 'P**i' ?
This is not a racist or derogatory term, but a term to describe somebody from Pakistan. A similar example would be to call someone from Turkey, a 'Turk', or someone from Britain a 'Brit'.

P**i should not be edited...however it seems to be on here!

Would have to disagree. It's a racist term for sure

Of course it is a derogatory term, because that is how it is used. The definition is pretty much meaningless when you've seen and heard someone shout racist abuse at someone using the term. Its clear from their face. Not a pleasant experience.

surely its along the lines of calling someone a Welsh *******. their nationality is used in a derogatory way yet the word in isolation is perfectly acceptable.
I'm just playing Devil's advocate here by the way.

That is a racist and derogatory term just as bad as the N word. It is an offensive term used in a derogatory manner to offend people based purely on the colour of their skin. You need to think about that and review your opinion on it mate.

I'm honestly not sure you could be any more wrong with that post.

P*ki is an incerdibly hostile, nasty, vicious word. And it is not used to describe somebody from Pakistan, but pretty much anyone of south / central Asian origin.
              Oh I don't know.

                No, it's nothing like that.

Are you British out of interest?
                Oh I don't know.

as is the word 'black' when used in the same context.
I'm asking why the P word is racist, whereas black, Turk, Brit, whatever else isn't?

Have you ever referred to anybody as a P*ki?

I can't really believe I'm having this conversation.

JohnnyH, I don't want to sound condescending but how old are you? I find it absolutely shocking that anyone who has lived in the UK for say the last 20-30+ years (assuming your age here) thinks the word P**i is not a racist term.

I can't believe it's for real to be honest. How anyone can claim it is an abbreviation for someone from Pakistan is beyond me. It's specifically used in derogatory terms to asian original people. Nowhere near the same as using Brit etc. I'm pretty shocked he isn't even aware of that

of course I haven't! I'm simply trying to ascertain why that particular word has such racist connotations whereas others, such as the word 'black' can be used in context quite legitimately.
I'm raising a valid point here, not advocating the use of the word in a racist context.
