Welcome to LFC Brendan, this is how we do things here. ;-)

On to the next target then. May be we need to reevaluate our wage policy because I see this being a problem in the future if we're not careful. To lose out to Spurs who are quite strict with their wage structure is worrying.

we need to lose the wage drainers, one or both of Modric and VDV must be leaving so although Spurs may be gaining a decent player he's not as good as Modric or VDV yet

If the reports are true (and I stress IF) then even Reading offerred more money than we did

              Indeed

It may be that players like Cole & Aquilani are an albatross round our neck in terms of wages and doing deals for new signings

                  Typical Liverpool transfer.

Someone ring up Kieron Dyer. There's a place going in our midfield.

Hope this isn't a sign of things to come, can't attract a player at the level of Sigurdsson and some people think we can sell Skrtel and buy Hummels. FSG may need to revisit the DoF situation.

Sadly not, that might of been a problem if we have been unsuccessful,
Gerrard, Lucas, Adam, Henderson, Shelvey, Spearing, Aquilani, Cole?

You'd think we were the only club to ever miss out on signing someone!

Let's see what happens over the next few weeks.

I still think he'll sign for us.

If he doesn't then I'm sure we'll hear more about the why's and reasons over the coming weeks.

It's a bit strange, but if he doesn't want to play for us then **** him. If he does then great. I'd be surprised if he opted for Spurs in their current situation, but footballers are greedy *******s and will generally go wherever they can earn the most money. If we don't think he's worth whatever Spurs and Reading are offering then I hope the owners are currently lining up better players who are worth making a serious bid for.

He hasn't signed for anyone yet so let's see what happens.

If he signs for us great. If he doesn't great as well.

                              No tears either way.

There are plenty of very good players out there.

There is a poster by the name of JJetset on Spurs Forum who, I'm told, has a 100% record, works for the club high up. and basically is a authorised leaker to the Spurs fan base. He also gets his info out by the Psuedonym "The Goat"(imagine it was Dunk!)

The Goat alias said on Friday that Spurs had entered the fight and were confident and this morning the JJetset handle put up that Gylfi was done and would be finalised and announced Friday (think I posted about this earlier on).

From what I'm told by Spurs fans, if these 2 users have said this, its done. He sounds like the Spurs version of ViennaMaestro who people on here and ST (You know who you are) may remember, didn't got loads of info, but when he did it was proven Gospel in the end. This Spurs lad is viewed with the same cred as Will was back in the day (He hasn't got his own Sub-Forum though )

This, coupled with Bild, (which I'm told by a Journo who covers Germany isn't anything like the Scum in terms of reliability) and Neil Jones from the Echo's seperate German sources (see @NeilJonesEcho on ****ter), suggest that this one is all over chaps.

From what I can gather, when good sources on Twitter, and in the press (like Neil Jones, Mr Jenkins and Ben Smith), were saying as late as the weekend he was in the bag for us, it seems things had moved on without them getting any further info, and Spurs stole in. I expect Ben Smith to confirm this tomorrow.

I wasn't going to write this but thought I may as well pass on what I have been told on my travels.

Being on the dole with nothing to do in silly season is not a good thing, although I found out how a lot of those blag Agent ITK types on Twitter get all their info. Its funny how they all follow the exact same foreign Journalists and writers.
