i think its arrogant on our part to make him a cheap offer,get outbid by tottenham who have performed better than us in recent season and still expect him to sign for us.

If you believe the various rumours flying round it looks like its one of the following options

1) We offerred £55K per week plus bonuses and Spurs offerred £70K per week

2) we offerred the same amount as Swansea offerred him, which was lower than what Reading offerred and half of what Spurs offerred

Of course but again if you believe the two different rumours being thrown around

The first says Spurs offerred £70K per week and we offerred £55K per week.

The second says we matched the offer he got from Swansea which was less than Readings and half of Spurs'

If its the second one then once again the club has ****ed up and I couldnt blame the player in the slightest for choosing somewhere else

I've no problems with getting outbid by Spurs if we have put in a decent offer (ie the £55K)

We need to pay/outbid other clubs to sign quality players. Wtf are we trying to do? Reputation alone, it seems, isn't going to make them run and sign for us. It does look like we're reverting to type. I'd rather have Commolli back, at least he had the balls to take a punt.

There is always the possibility to go back with a better offer. If the original offer is what the club thinks he`s worth I don`t have much problem with that.
If it`s so that the club can`t afford to even match Reading it is a concern, but I don`t belive that is the case. There are ways to get Cole and Aquilani of the wage bill if we`re desperate enough. I think the club has other targets in sight and wants to get them instead of paying more to Gylfi than they think he`s worth.

I`d still quite like to get him, but not at any cost.
