I hope we get him, but I've got a bad feeling he's off to Spurs - which would be crazy as he is obviously one of Uncle Buck's prime targets and the club must know that he would only be choosing Spurs due to the pay deal. Surely if we want him we could match that deal - wouldn't have thought that it would be overpaying as Spurs are renowned as a far from profligate club. The Spurs wage structure is supposed to be notoriously strict - I'm sure the biggest stars are on about £70,000 p/week (even Man City have to pay £100,000 of Adebayor's £170,000 p/week wages). So I find it hard to believe that the Spurs pay deal for Gylfi is substantially bigger than ours to make it unmatchable.

Just been on Newstalk sports news that Spurs have "leapfrogged" Liverpool in the race to sign him. Rodgers said to be furious after holding extensive talks with him all last week. Fee of 8 million and personal terms to be agreed.
