I like the thought of him and Carra as centre backs in big games like the one on saturday. Carra and Neill would certainly occupie drogba with there immense work rates and no-nonsense defending.

The thing i like about Neill is he bullys strikers, now adays you see strikers such as drogba bullying defenders.

We've a few players who can play right back, maybe Neill would be put there if Finnan was injured/ suspended, but as he isn't, I think Rafa will put him at left back. He can still be backup for Finnan and play left back you know.

Neil can play anywhere across the back four. He is backup...but at a price. Too many yellows and reds suggest he has a problem.

I think he is the natural cover for SG playing RW, more a wing-back covering so SG can go wandering, so for us he would be RB/WB, which Finnan can do - but prob not as effective as Rafa thinks Alves can do.

I can't see us not signing Alves in the summer. He is Rafa's top target IMO and the only thing that can stop him joining us is if we miss out on the CL next season.

Or his new contract with a €50,000,000 buy out clause that he signed 1 month ago might act as a deterant.
