Just what is it about the man from Holland that means he can do now wrong? He has an immense engine, but so so do Bellers and Crouch, and ultimately, they normally end up with an end product.

I'd feel sorry for either of those two if they failed to hit the net with as much consistency as Kuyt, they'd be ripped to shreds.

Personally, I think he's in danger of becoming the most over-rated LFC player of recent times.

    Fair comment I feel.

Kuyt has had a decent enough first season so far.
But at that price I expected more quality, maybe that is unfair on the lad, but so it is.
That said there are certain aspects of his game that I am disappointed about.
Some of those are down to his abilities, and some are due to the role he is asked to play in the team. He would do better if he had a proper goalscorer in front of him.

He is good at linking up play, works his socks off, has good awareness of teammates and is apparently a model pro.

But he is terribly one footed, almost JAR style, has a suspect first touch and seems to me to be very slow off the mark.
I also think he has missed a couple of chances I would expect an international striker to bag. All strikers miss, but I feel a little more finesse and a cooler head would have been better when he has opted to go for power.

So, in sum, I am a bit disappointed in his quality as a footballer, but not his performance.

Wasn't Kuyt one of those world class players that everyone with Football Manager said we needed years ago? Now that hes here, and seems to be in a bit of a bad patch after a good start and its probably the same people that are now all over him saying hes ****e and not good enough.

The current "must have" player, Alves, will no doubt go through the same thing if he comes here. When he goes through a slump in form, the knives will be out and suddenley hes ****. Not having a go at some of the more decent posters on here who make some good, and valid points, but there are others on here who really piss me off with their fickleness (if thats a word).

Bellamy on kuyt wont work together because they are too similar.

They're strikers and both train at Melwood.

Bellamy runs on the wing so does kuyt, bellamy runs wide kuyt drops back there is no one in the box. Fair enough if we had the wingers it would be diffrent. Ans they are too small together.
Bellamy isnt suited to behing at home becaue alot of teams lay back against us and let us break them down and bellamy doesnt have any space to run into, against man u uesterday the only chances he had was on the counter attack which is fair enough but he more suite to away game.

I've seen many a person criticise Kuyt on here so I wouldn't say he's above criticism. It's his first season in this country though so I think it's only fair he's given time to settle. Look at the likes of Drogba, Pires etc... etc... to see how long it can take a player to adapt to life in the Premiership.

I'm certain that when we buy a striker who can makes intelligent runs and work in tandem with Dirk we'll see the best of him.

Kuyt is a good player but not the 20 goal a season we crave.
I think people have held back somewhat due to it being his first season and rightly so.
Id give it to Xmas next year and if hes not producing by then then the knives will be out IMO.
Incidentally, i think him and Owen would make a wonderful partnership..........

Kuyt would work well with a fowler type of player imo.

At first Kuyt impressed me with his work ethic and would never give in.
Lately his touch has been poor and he has missed a few easy chances. Kuyt wont get us 20 league goals a season, but playing alongside someone who would get you those goals i think dirky boy would be more relaxed as not being the main striker.

Rafa signed the wrong Dutch striker. Bellamy is always working his socks off so I can't really understand why we need two strikers to do the same work. We need a clinical striker and he doesn't need to work his socks off, just score the easy goals.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

He is also a hard working striker, we need a clinical striker that scores the easy goals, like Owen or Klose.
